Former MSE Blue Jay Educates Students on Fish and Wildlife Conservation

At Morningside Elementary, Ms. W-J’s and Mrs. Kistler’s classes enjoyed a wonderful presentation from former Blue Jay Benjamin Johnson, son of our very own, Ms. W-J! Officer Benjamin Johnson works for Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and he did an amazing job of sharing with students what he does to protect the fish, wildlife, and residents. Girls on the Run at MSE: Confidence, Friends, and Fitness

Girls on the Run at Morningside Elementary is back up and running after some time off due to the hurricane!   This wonderful organization teaches girls confidence and life skills through engaging weekly lessons.  The girls are currently learning about making positive connections with new friends.  They are also hard at work outside running laps to prepare themselves for a community 5K later on in the school year.  The coaches are very proud of how motivated and hard-working the girls have been!

Special Event at MSE for Perfect Attendance: Water Balloons and Smiles

To celebrate Perfect Attendance for September, Morningside Elementary held a special event where students with perfect attendance got to enjoy a fun pop-up incentive: throwing water balloons at our brave Principal, Assistant Principal, School Resource Deputy, and Instructional Coach! 💦 It was a blast, and we loved seeing the joy and excitement on everyone’s faces. 😄  

MSE 5th Graders Tackle Earth and Space Concepts with a Friendly Competition

At Morningside Elementary, in preparation for their Earth and Space Unit Assessment, students in Mrs. M’s and Ms. WJ’s 5th-grade classes scrimmaged in Quizlet Live! Students were randomly assigned to teams. Each member of the team received the same question but different answer choices on each of their devices, requiring teammates to collaborate with each other to determine the correct answer! In preparation for this scrimmage, students worked diligently to complete learning tasks and study materials, allowing time for some friendly competition!  

From Salsa to Mazes: MSE 5th Graders’ Journey Through Corn in ELA

5th-grade students in Mrs. Williams’ class had all sorts of learning fun and engagement during their first ELA unit that focused on corn! Students had the opportunity to taste many corn-related products throughout the unit, with corn salsa being a favorite! As a culminating activity, students brought literacy to life by creating and building their very own corn mazes!
