LPA Orchestra Students Perform at All State High School Honors Orchestra

Giselle Arana Cisneros, grade 10 –violin Lincoln Park Academy, performed with the Florida Orchestra All-State High School Honors Orchestra, and Christine Gergely, grade 8–viola, performed with the All-State Middle School Orchestra in Tampa during the 2024 Florida Music Education Association Professional Development Conference.  Both students are members of the Orchestras at Lincoln Park Academy, under the direction of Ms. Laura Hopkins.

George Rahming Jr. Receives the FMEA Service Award

George Rahming Jr. was recently honored with a prestigious Florida Music Educator Service Award at the Florida Music Educators Conference in Tampa, Florida.  Known for his innovative teaching methods and unwavering commitment to student success, Rahming has left a lasting impact on both his students and the educational community.    

LPA Media Center Diorama Contest Winners

Congratulations to all our winners and participants of the LPA Media Center Diorama Contest!  The competition was tight, and the talent was through the roof!  Congratulations to our Middle School winners: 1st Place: Enidarylis Lopez and Vanessa Masters, 2nd Place: Ayla Bly and Samantha Rau, 3rd Place: Mikhail Horton and Arianna Delgado. High School also did an amazing job!  A big shout out to our High School winners: 1st Place: Lindsey Damis, 2nd Place: Jordan Myers, 3rd Place: Angelyka Valdez.  Our next contest will be featured soon, so be on the lookout!

LPA Centennial Career Expo

The Lincoln Park Academy Centennial Career Expo was a huge success!  Former graduates were featured and also shared their expertise with our Juniors and Seniors. Students were able to chat with our LPA Alumni about the educational requirements for their career, the pros and cons that come along with their job, their benefits, and also what they love most about their career.  Ms. Lindo and Jonathan Castor were picked for prizes. It was a great day for all who participated!      

LPA Winter Wishes at C.A. Moore

Lincoln Park Academy’s IB Student Committee delivered gifts to C.A. Moore’s Kindergarten and 1st-grade students through the Winter Wishes program. LPA students, staff, and families donated over 100 gifts to C.A. Moore. On the day, IB students visited C.A. Moore dressed as Santa and his elves, spending time in each classroom, playing games and opening presents. They took time to spread Christmas cheer and warmth.

LPA 9th Grade MYP IB Students Cruise the Indian River Lagoon in the Name of Science

A group of our 9th-grade students took a research cruise with FIU Harbor Branch Scientists to study the Indian River Lagoon aboard their research vessel. Students tested water quality and biodiversity in the lagoon. They used the ROV to see what was happening at the bottom! After the cruise, we went to the visitor center to see what is happening with Aquaculture at FIU Harbor Branch and their captive breeding program for saltwater aquarium fish. Many people don’t know that Harbor Branch has the largest breeding program in the country for saltwater aquariums!

 Lincoln Park Academy Retires the Jerseys of Some of Their Greatest Girls’ Basketball Stars On November 29th Lincoln Park Academy retired the jersey of 3 of the school’s top girls’ basketball stars in the history of their school. This celebration comes in conjunction with the 100th year celebration of the school. Melanie Densen-Rosier (22), a 2002 graduate, and LaQuita Ball (23), a 2003 graduate, had a career high of over 2,000 points scored during their basketball career at LPA. LPA Makayla Megnauth Plays in the All Star Softball in Puerto Rico and Dominates

Over Thanksgiving break Makayla Megnauth decided to take on the challenge of not only playing way up in 17U as a 12-year-old, but to help a small-town Puerto Rico team (Salinas) as they faced the best of the best that flew in from all over the United States to play on an AllStar team. In 7 games while playing with the team Makayla batted an amazing team high .714. Makayla also got 2 starts pitching as she got the win both times. LPA Theatre Rocks One Act Festival!

Lincoln Park Academy Theatre’s Troupe 6958 participated in One Act Festival on November 17th and 18th and did an outstanding job! LPA’s theatre department was awarded a Straight Superior rating and received Critics Choice! This means that LPA Theatre will be representing District 15 Thespians at the State Festival in March. Two of their actors received rewards as well; Chloe Jackson was chosen as Best Overall Actress of the festival and Sofia Abraham was selected as All-Star Cast Member! Lincoln Park Academy Violinist Giselle Cisneros Arana chosen for All State High School Honors Orchestra

Lincoln Park Academy is proud to announce that violinist Giselle Arana Cisneros, grade 10 has been selected to perform in this year’s Florida Orchestra Association All State High School Honors Orchestra in Tampa during the January Music Teachers’ Professional Development.  She will be performing with other students from the state in grades 9-12.  This makes it four years in a row that Giselle has been selected for All State!  The Lincoln Park Academy Orchestras are under the direction of Ms. Laura Hopkins.

LPA NJHS Empowering the Future

National Junior Honor Society students unite to combat hunger, one can at a time. Students used communication skills to spread awareness about the reality of hunger in our world. A total of 389 non-perishable food items were collected.  Way to go Greyhounds!!! 🌟🥫 #NJHS #CommunityService #EndHunger

The Lincoln Park Academy Jazz Ensemble and Steel Drum

‘Pandemonium’ Steel Band represented St. Lucie Public Schools at the Fall Fun Fest on Saturday, October 28th held at the Mid-Florida Event Center. Members of the band were joined by recent alumni who are current music majors. They played various genres ranging from Caribbean, Blues, Swing, Latin, and Funk. Thank you to The Port Saint Lucie Downtown Lions Club for their generous donation which served to support our students traveling to New York City in April 2024.     

LPA’s National Honor Society Participates in Trunk or Treat

LPA’s National Honor Society, led by Presidents Noah Fox-Goodman and Alexandra Watson, went out to Sportsman’s Park’s Trunk or Treat event to bring smiles (and treats!) to children this spooky season. There were so many kids! Hopefully our skeleton didn’t scare them too much…  

LPA Students Love the Chess Club

The LPA Chess Club has students learn and show their skills in this fun and historic board game! Playing chess has many benefits, including improved memory, developed perspective and problem-solving skills, and even a reduced risk of developing dementia. Founded this year by Ian Navas, the club welcomes both middle and high school students regardless of chess experience. A Spooktacular LPA Orchestra Performance

The Lincoln Park Academy High School Orchestra and Middle School Advanced Orchestras presented a Fall Spooktacular Concert on Thursday, October 19 in the LPA Auditorium.  As is traditional for this concert, they perform spooky fall favorites that included Rosin Eating Zombies from Outer Space, Zombie Tango, Monster Mambo, Spiders on the Loose, Zombie Dance, and Rockin’ Halloween that combined themes from Monster Mash, Ghostbusters, and Scooby-Doo.  Solos and Ensembles also performed, including a solo from the Florida Orchestra Association All-State Orchestra Concertmaster Giselle Arana Cisneros.  These orchestras will perform again on December 14, at 6:30 p.m. for the Frosty Eve … Read More

Lincoln Park Academy Violinist Grace Joseph will Perform in Charlotte, North Carolina

Lincoln Park Academy Orchestra is proud to announce our violinist, Grace Joseph—grade 9, has been nominated to perform for the 2023 Boys and Girls Clubs of America Southeast Leadership Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina on November 30.  She will be performing some selected solo pieces for one of the general sessions. Congratulations Ms. Joseph on a prestigious honor! Ms. Laura Hopkins is the Orchestra Director at Lincoln Park Academy.

LPA Boys Swimmers Successful at Districts

The Class 1A District 6 Swimming & Diving Championships were held on October 18th at the IRSC Swimming Pool.  The LPA boys team placed 1st and the girls team finished in 2nd place.  The boys were led by:  Dillon Spooner (1st place in 200 IM, 2nd place in the 500 Free).  The boys relay placed 2nd in the 200 Medley and the 400 Free.

LPA Fitness Litness Club Enjoys Yoga

For many Lincoln Park Academy seniors, the first semester can be very stressful with college application deadlines impending. At the most recent Friday Fitness Litness club gathering they focused on their mental health by partaking in stress-relieving activities. They made tea, did yoga, and simply talked as a group to share what had been on their minds. Mental health is just as important as our physical and we make this a priority in FLF!

Lincoln Park Students Participate in Nitrogen Cycle Lab at HBOI

The IB students at Lincoln Park Academy are putting their Aquaculture knowledge to the test at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute with Dr. Jim Masterson.  Dr. Masterson worked with students in testing water quality using colorimetry techniques. Colorimetry uses colored compounds to determine the concentration of a target chemical compound in water analysis.
