Free Youth Symposium

Southport Middle School Multicultural Celebration

For the past 20 years, Southport Middle School has proudly celebrated the kinship and diversity among the school’s English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) students in Mr. Dana S. Hochberg’s class. This year over 40 sixth, seventh, and eighth grade ESOL students participated in the multicultural event and represented over 15 countries. In addition to a delectable multinational feast, students presented individual research-based learning projects involving authentic naval air and vessel hats.  Seventh grader Thekeyah Antiola chose the USS Shenandoah AD-44. Red Nose Day

Transportation employees (L to R) Michele Cocchia, Debbie Soesbe, and Kathy Owens donned their red noses for the annual Red Nose Day, May 25, 2017, supporting the efforts to aid childhood  poverty programs including support for immunizations, mental health, domestic violence, education, as well as fighting homelessness and disease in the poorest communities.

Holocaust Survivor Visits Palm Pointe

On Monday, May 22, 2017 at Palm Pointe Educational Research School in Tradition, Holocaust survivor Bernie Shore shared his story of survival with over 150 sixth grade scholars.  With Superintendent E. Wayne Gent and School Board Member Debbie Hawley in attendance, Mr. Shore spoke of his experience at Auschwitz and the tragic story of his family’s oppression at the hands of the Nazi’s.  Over 60 of Bernie’s extended family perished during World War II. Warriors On the Water

By: Syanna Graham Port St. Lucie High School showed its support at the event for Warriors On the Water. The Jaguar Battalion attended the event and presented the colors. The Color Guard was led by Cadet Major Dallas Reyes carrying the national flag, and Cadet Command Sergeant Major Damilola Jolaogun carrying the state flag. Cadet Corporal Noel Cruz and Cadet Staff Sergeant D’Eric Merrit posted as guards. The students enjoyed participating in the event and the warriors appreciated their appearance.

Northport Commemorates Fallen Peace Officers and Honors Police Week!

Northport K-8 School continually instills in our children that we should respect all police officers. The police are part of the fabric of Northport and they are common faces at our school. They are community partners and work with our staff to instill attributes in the children of Northport to become good citizens, to enjoy a healthy respect of the police and to always honor our country and be patriotic. Mariposa Elementary First Grade Parent Organizes Activity

Lisa Delatorre came up with a fun project for Mrs. Auciello’s 1st grade class! She brought the supplies for the students to create and use a drawing robot, or “doodle bot.” The students had a blast putting these together and watching the cool designs they could make! Mrs. Delatorre is pictured teaching Abbilaine Burgess, Abigail Melbourne, Ariana Maneau, Zane Barszcz, Olivia Brana, Trinity Andrews, Alejandro Delatorre,  Jackson Smith, Conner Arndt, Antonio Thomas, Emmanuel Garcia, and Nina Bingham how to construct their robots! Positive Trends Continue for Third Grade ELA Scores

The Florida Department of Education released the Grade 3 ELA Scores, and the percent of Grade 3 students in St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) continues to rise with scores increasing another three percent this year. Eighteen SLPS had a higher percentage of students with satisfactory scores over last year’s results.  Allapattah Flats K-8, Floresta Elementary, Lawnwood Elementary, Mariposa Elementary, and Palm Pointe Research School at Tradition realized double-digit gains, and almost half of the schools exceeded the State average with students scoring in the satisfactory range. “The gauge is moving in the right direction for early literacy, and we recognize … Read More

Centennial Student One Step Closer to Olympic Medal

Kailey McKnight tried out for Team USA Volleyball. Tryouts were held in 32 cities across the United States, and this Centennial Eagle was one of fifty-five girls selected to move to the next level of competition. Kailey will compete with the best this summer as part of USA Volleyball HP (High Performance) A1 National Select Training Team. We are very excited and proud of Kailey. Congratulations Kailey!
