A group of Village Green students traveled to Sun Coast Community High School in Riviera Beach, FL to compete in the Odyssey of the Mind Regional Competition.
Village Green students in grades 3-5 won 2nd place in the Division I. They chose to participate in Problem 3: Pandora's Box. Their final combined score consisted of the Long-Term Problem and the Spontaneous scores.
In this "classics" problem, nine teams put a video spin on the story of Pandora's Box in which gamer characters took on multi-level games inspired by the Greek myth. Each team game included a prologue that depicted the original story of Pandora's Box, three characters representing different evils that escaped the box, and a power meter that represented the gamer character's health. To beat the game, the player advanced to the final level where it released hope into the world.
In addition to student-problem solving by using construction, skits, and other resources, Village Green students incorporated humor and wit into their presentation.
We appreciate our fabulous Village Green parents for their patience and never-ending support.
And we would also like to thank Mrs. Angle, Mr. Casper, Ms. Duane, Mrs. Futo, Mr. Gallardo, Ms. Millard, and our fabulous PTO for sponsoring applicable fees.
And most importantly, we congratulate our students for participating in regional competitions that allows them to apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics.
