Samuel S. Gaines Academy of Emerging Technologies 8th-Grade Science Students Win Big!

Mr. Nicks’ 8th-grade science students have drastically improved their Penda engagement and scores after he put a World Championship Belt in play. The student who earns the most points each week gets to wear the belt for the week. Mr. Nicks even made a special section on his big data tracker to display all the winners. Mr. Nicks’ classes also use our Leader in Me mentality to create a WIG (wildly important goal) along with action steps to accomplishing the WIG and they keep it in the forefront by adding it to the data tracker.

TCHS FBLA Informational Meeting

Today Treasure Coast High School’s Future Business Leaders of America team hosted an informational meeting for new and returning FBLA members. In this meeting, students were able to meet the new officer team, and receive information about future volunteer and fundraising opportunities and workshops.

Education Foundation Scholarship Awards Ceremony at Fort Pierce Central High School

On Monday, May 1st the Education Foundation held a Reception followed by a Ceremony to recognize senior students graduating from St. Lucie County Public High Schools who demonstrated exemplary Academic performance and Leadership. The Education Foundation awarded 55 scholarships totaling 69,000 dollars in scholarships to students. Scholarships through the Education Foundation provide an opportunity to help students continue to succeed after graduation and assist them with pursuing post-secondary education goals. We are so proud of each of them and wish them success in their futures!

Mosaic Digital Academy 5th Graders Rock Saturday with a Scientist

5th graders throughout St. Lucie County took a deep dive into science during “Saturday with a Scientist”. Five students from Mosaic Digital Academy were chosen to experience this unique opportunity hosted by IRSC at the Pruitt Campus. Topics explored were Geology, Ocean Acidification, and DNA extraction. During the Geology components, students compared features of igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks and were able to identify meteors based on their magnetic qualities. Students conducted an experiment mimicking Ocean Acidification to examine the effects of how carbon dioxide impacts ocean pH levels having a negative impact on marine life. Teacher Appreciation Week: St. Lucie Education Foundation Celebrate Teachers at St. Lucie Elementary (SLE)

This year the St. Lucie Education Foundation provided teachers at St. Lucie Elementary with something special to celebrate and show them how much we appreciate them. 110 teachers who work tirelessly to educate our students each day, received reusable shopping bags and pens from the Education Foundation. The Education Foundation wants to thank the teachers for making a difference in the lives of their students and for having a positive impact on their learning process!

Chester A. Moore 5th Grade Attends Let’s Go, Science!

Chester A. Moore Elementary would like to thank Ms. Zulay Garcia and community partners Fort Pierce Elks Lodge #1520, River of Life Fellowship, and Nettles Island Womens Club. Ms. Garcia worked with Sunrise Theatre to provide this exciting learning opportunity. Additionally, the generous donations from community sponsors funded busing and admissions, making it possible for the entire 5th grade class to attend.

Chester A. Moore Parent Night

Chester A. Moore hosted its Title 1/21st Century Parent Night. Parents received great resources from teachers, community partner Crystal Jones with the Urban League of Palm Beach’s Stop Now, Plan (S.N.A.P) program and ClassDojo. The Heroines of Jericho volunteered to serve the parents dinner. Congratulations to the Paulk’s who won the TV giveaway for using ClassDojo.

Forest Grove Students are #1 in Florida and Georgia on Reading Plus

Mrs. Redic’s 4th period Critical Thinking class at Forest Grove Middle School was the middle school winner of the Reading Plus Race to 21 Competition. The class completed 1094 reading lessons with 660 of them scoring above 80%. That is an average of 60 lessons per student since the beginning of the school year. Congratulations Mrs. Redic’s Class!

St. Lucie Elementay 5th Graders Enjoy Digital Learning

St. Lucie Elementary students in Joseph Richardson’s 5th grade class used Nearpod to discover how to find the volume of an object. Mr. Richardson was using Nearpod to launch the newest unit in math. The students had to draw a fish tank, label the dimensions, and then find the volume of their tanks. They were then tasked with finding the volume of different rectangular prisms using the quiz mode in Nearpod. Students had a blast and can’t wait for the next Nearpod lesson!  

Happy Holidays from JROTC -TCHS

Treasure Coast High School AFJROTC, cadets from Unit FL-2008,  in collaboration with Angel Robertson, the Outreach Coordinator for Congressman Brian Mast, took time out of their class to write letters dedicated to individual troops stationed overseas.  The Christmas letters will arrive in time to deployed troops to wish them Happy Holidays!   Hopefully these letters will make them feel less distant from home, and let them know that the cadets of Treasure Coast High School AFJROTC wish them all the best in the upcoming holiday season.

KidMania Event

St. Lucie Public Schools engaged the entire family in learning at the KidMania event on Sunday, October 20th. Families learned how to help their child improve their reading through a variety of activities.

Child Nutrition Services Farm to School Program

Child Nutrition Services is proud to announce for the 2017-2018 school year we offered the students of St. Lucie Public Schools over 219,000 pounds of Florida grown produce, over 53,000 pounds of Florida beef, and over 6,400,000 half pints of milk on school serving lines as part of the Farm to School Program. As we begin the fifth year of the Farm to School Program we are increasing the amount of Florida grown produce to twenty items that of our original seven when the program started in 2015. Harvesting Radishes at Village Green Environmental School

Child Nutrition Services was invited to Village Green Environmental Studies School by the Kindergarten class to assist in the harvesting and cleaning of radishes grown by the students in the school garden. After the harvest, the students participated in a kitchen tour given by Ms. Deanna Kinder, cafeteria manager, including a stop by the freezer! Ms. Dawn Davila showed students how to wash and trim the radishes and explained how the roots bring nutrients to the plant to help it grow into the food we eat. WMP Students Participate In Hour of Code

In Mr. Caroglanian’s technology class 1st -5th grade students are participating in The Hour of Code. The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries.  The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify “code,” to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with one-hour coding activities but expanding to all sorts of community efforts.

Windmill Point student throws out first pitch!

Windmill Point Elementary 4th Grader Joshua Jones threw out the first pitch at Friday evening’s St. Lucie Mets game!  Money from tickets sold to Windmill Point Elementary students will benefit the 4th grade St. Augustine trip and other 4th grade activities!

Warriors On the Water

By: Syanna Graham Port St. Lucie High School showed its support at the event for Warriors On the Water. The Jaguar Battalion attended the event and presented the colors. The Color Guard was led by Cadet Major Dallas Reyes carrying the national flag, and Cadet Command Sergeant Major Damilola Jolaogun carrying the state flag. Cadet Corporal Noel Cruz and Cadet Staff Sergeant D’Eric Merrit posted as guards. The students enjoyed participating in the event and the warriors appreciated their appearance.
