St. Lucie West K8 Celebrates Dr. King’s Vision of Unity to Construct a 1st Place Float

St. Lucie West K8 Celebrates Dr. King’s vision of unity to construct a 1st Place Float! Students and teachers came together to build a float to showcase the shark spirit with the parade theme “Change Begins with Me.”
Teachers came before and stayed late after school, even giving their weekend to build the float for the January 20th Parade in Ft. Pierce. Students worked in their free time to paint, construct, connect, and create the float. Cheerleaders and family members, along with staff and administration braved the cold, rainy weather to pump up the spirit along the parade path. Our zone winner of Teacher of the Year, Ms. Lindsey Harris led the delegation followed by our Shark of Change! The cheerleaders ended the parade with a cheer-off with Southport. At SLWK8, Sharks embrace Dr. King’s “Change Begins with Me” in habits, attitudes, and hearts. Applying personal responsibility, we swim to success in our school and community. Shark Nation earned 1st place in the K8/Middle School division for The Martin Luther King Jr. Parade! Our sincere gratitude goes out to the Multicultural Committee and Mrs. Boham for their courageous investment in building a unique concept to represent us. A job well done! A huge Jawsome shout-out also goes to our cheerleaders, student volunteers, parents, and teachers, who made us shine. You all deserve this recognition and honor!
