
Congratulations to the SLW Centennial High School Navy JROTC “Black Talon” Navy Eagle Company! They competed on Saturday, October 18th, 2025, in the Congressman Brian Mast Cadet Competition on the grounds of the Navy Seal Museum in Fort Pierce, Florida. The Centennial “Black Talon” NJROTC Team competed against 7 other JROTC units to include the Sea Cadets, Treasure Coast HS AFJROTC, and Martin County HS AFJROTC, for the opportunity and honor of carrying Congressman Brian Mass’ Guidon for the 2025-2026 school year.
The Cadet Competition consisted of several events that included Personnel Uniform Inspection, Color Guard Drill, as well as multiple Physical Fitness events like Pull-ups, Planks, Push-ups, an Overhead Ball-Toss, a 45-lbs Sled-Pull, a 10-lbs Ammo Can Carry (two, one for each arm), a 1-mile Beach Run, and the competition was finalized by the Navy Seal Museum’s Obstacle Course.
The “Black Talon” NJROTC had the following personnel perform:
Personnel Uniform Inspection was conducted by Cadet Senior Chief Petty Officer Deanna Simpson & Cadet Petty Officer First Class Jacob Ramos.
Exceptional Color Guard Drill was performed by Cadet Petty Officer Second Class Nolan Hamel, Cadet Seaman Jeffrey Baker, Cadet Petty Officer First Class Jacob Ramos, and Cadet Lieutenant Brandon Ramirez!
The Physical Fitness competition was conducted by:
Cadet Petty Officer Second Class Nolan Hamel performed an outstanding 10 minute plank!
Cadet Lieutenant Brandon Ramirez did 17 Pull-ups!
Cadet Seaman Jeffrey Baker performed 59 Push-ups!
Cadet Petty Officer Third Class Christian Cassidy did the Overhead Ball-Toss!
Cadet Senior Chief Petty Officer Deanna Simpson did the 10-lbs Ammo Can Carry!
Cadet Petty Officer Second Class Zoey Fletcher did the 45-lbs Sled-Pull!
The entire Black Talon Unit finished the 1 mile team beach run in 9 minutes and 15 seconds!

Finally, the NJROTC Team completed the Navy Seal Museum’s Obstacle Course in the fastest and most impressive time of 1 minute and 42 seconds!
With Honor, Determination, Motivation, and Esprit-de-Corps the Cadets of the SLW Centennial NAVY JROTC “Black Talon” Company won this year’s competition and will be using Congressman Brain Mast’s Guidon for all their Navy JROTC competitions throughout the school year!
