On December 6, 2023, the Legal Eagles Club from SLW Centennial High School went on a tour of the United States District Court in Fort Pierce. Hosted by Judge Shaniek Maynard, the students went from Intake, to the holding cells, to the Grand Jury room, to the Courtroom, and heard from a variety of speakers, including: U.S. Marshals, a Federal Prosecutor, a Federal Civil Attorney, Federal Public Defenders, Probation Officers, Court Deputies, a Law Clerk, and Judge Maynard herself. Speakers provided information about their backgrounds and the requirements of their jobs, as well as their “heart story”. It was an incredible learning experience for our students!
