Second-Grade Students of Lawnwood Elementary Participated in the Dictionary Project

The St. Lucie Education Foundation, Children’s Services Council of St. Lucie County, and The Fort Pierce Rotary Club visited Lawnwood Elementary and provided a dictionary for every second-grade student. Our students will benefit from this generous donation of brand-new student dictionaries and free passes to the Manatee Center. We appreciate the commitment of these local agencies for enhancing our students’ learning in such a unique way.
Students need dictionaries because they provide information about words such as pronunciation, spelling, meanings, parts of speech, and more. Providing students with their own dictionary will support them as they develop their language skills and help them understand new words. This team interacted with the students and used engaging techniques to teach them how to use the dictionary. Our students are now more confident in using a dictionary and are thrilled to have their own dictionary.  Overall, this visit made a profound impact on our second-grade students. GO LEOPARDS!
