PORT ST. LUCIE, FL -Currently an assistant principal at Palm Pointe Educational Research School at Tradition, Ms. Kathleen Perez will step into a new role as principal for the school as the new school year opens. No stranger to education, this 24-year veteran is looking forward to leading this learning community and continuing its tradition of excellence. “Palm Pointe has been my home for the past six years. I consider the staff and students my family, and I will continue to build and nurture the positive climate for student achievement.”
St. Lucie Public Schools Superintendent E. Wayne Gent said, “There was no need to look beyond our own District’s campuses for this school’s highly qualified leader. Ms. Perez has a proven track record as a strong instructional leader with assets in leading professional development and technology innovation. She will serve the school and the community well.”
Palm Pointe is a research school that boasts of a unique partnership with Florida Atlantic University and St. Lucie Public Schools. The kindergarten through eighth grade school has a three-fold mission of being a demonstration site for teacher education, developing curricula, and conducting research. The school’s current leader, Principal Debra Snyder, retires at the close of this school year and leaves a legacy of 37 years as a teacher and administrator in St. Lucie Public Schools.
