To kick off literacy week at Palm Pointe, Mrs. Baise’s kindergarten class and Mrs. Garcia-Herrera’s sixth-grade class paired up to read together! The sixth-graders helped the younger students illustrate the book’s cover and a favorite scene from each story. The kindergartners were excited to show off all the sight words they knew! Additional activities that students participated in included: a door decorating contest, schoolwide D.E.A.R. time, a Parent and Family Literacy Event, and book talks with student authors. It was a great week enjoying books and sharing what we love about reading. Classes that participated in buddy reading are sure to gather together again for more fun in reading.
