Throwback Thursday Celebrated at Palm Pointe

Students at Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition celebrated their positive behavior by using their earned rocket fuel to be out of dress code for Throwback Thursday sponsored by the P.B.I.S. (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) Team. “Through the Eyes of a Friend” Comes to Manatee Academy K-8

The Living Voices performance, funded by InSIGHT Through Education, provided 6th-grade students at Manatee K-8 with an educational experience that went beyond traditional classroom learning, offering them an immersive and emotional connection to history. By presenting the story from Sarah’s perspective, a composite character based on real testimonies, the performance allowed students to engage with the Holocaust in a deeply personal way. The students were able to witness the events through the eyes of a young girl their own age, experiencing her fears, struggles, and triumphs as she navigates life during this perilous time and survival. Three women honored for academics and philanthropy

Fort Pierce Central High School dean Bonita Monica Williams, Forest Grove Middle School teacher Christine Santos-Nurse, and Fort Pierce Central High School student and future pediatritian Sabrina Valencia LaFrance were honored by the International Haitian Inter-Cultural Association, Inc . (IHICA) service organization at a recent celebratory event. The honorees were selected for their academic careers, altruism, philanthropy, and service to others. Three St. Lucie schools honored for ELL learning gains

Garden City Early Learning Academy, Weatherbee Elementary and Lawnwood Elementary schools were recognized at the March 13, 2012 St. Lucie County School Board meeting by ESOL curriculum provider Imagine Learning for the fanatastic learning gains in reading proficiency for students learning to speak and read English at the three schools. The schools were specifically highlighted for implementing the program with fidelity for the recommended number of minutes per day devoted to the curriculum, which has yielded the tremendous student performance gains. Three Schools Attend Youth Awards Program for Energy Achievement in Washington DC

Three St. Lucie Public Schools were represented in Washington, D.C. last month at the Youth Awards Program for Energy Achievement.  Mariposa Elementary, Morningside Elementary, and Lincoln Park Academy attended the N.E.E.D. Three-Read Strategy Works At Weatherbee

Ms. Alyssa Barbieri’s fifth grade students enjoy implementing the Three-Read strategy for math word problems that Math Coach Erin Albano introduced to them.  Multiple groups of students generated some very good questions which helped them focus on what was happening in the problem instead of just jumping to answer the question.  Way to go Mariners!!

Three Port St. Lucie High cadets selected for state leadership program

By Sean Scott and William Benagh, Port St. Lucie High School Three Port St. Lucie High School ROTC Jaguar cadets have been selected to attend Florida’s American Legion Boys’ State and Girls’ State, the starting point for many successful young people. These programs are coordinated by the American Legion, and thanks to Post 318, cadet First Sergeant Troy Conover and cadet Second Lieutenant Jeremy Dardon have the opportunity to travel to Florida State University in Tallahassee. Three St. Lucie County public schools were recgonized at the August 14, 2012, St. Lucie County School Board meeting for continuously maintaining accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS-CASI) for 25 years. Windmill Point Elementary, Village Green Environmental Studies, and Northport K-8 Schools were presented a plaque to commemorate the achievement. Three Fort Pierce Central student athletes sign scholarships

Three student athletes at Fort Pierce Central High School have signed letters of intent to attend colleges and participate in athletics. Ron Clarke, right, who earned a varsity letter for four years as a Cobra, will play football at Florida Institute of Technology. Gabby Lopez, center, who earned a varsity letter three years at Central, will play softball at Western Oklahoma State College. Marcus Sigmon, left, lettered in baseball four years at Central and will play  baseball Indian River State College.

This Sounds Like Something Great

Let’s hear it for Mr. Lee Langridge! Mr. Lee Langridge, a safety system technician who works with the District Maintenance Department was recognized as a Star recipient based on his outstanding service to Lakewood Park Elementary’s stage PA and sound system. According to school personnel, Mr. Langridge taught them the ins and outs of making sure the sound system was set up properly, and he took the time to get every single speaker, microphone, and amplifier adjusted to perfection.  The result was a VPK graduation that was spectacular and memorable for so many throughout the community!
