Breakfast gets festive at Allapattah Flats

“Ho, Ho, Ho,” proclaimed Santa, at Allapattah Flats’ Santa Breakfast recently. Parents, teachers and students alike enjoyed the festivities as they watched Danya Etter’s elementary chorus perform several Christmas songs to bring in the holiday season, and eagerly awaited the arrival of Santa. The morning included a pancake breakfast, pictures with Santa and a holiday shop for all to enjoy. Branstorms brewing at Allapattah Flats

Students in eighth grade language arts classes at Allapattah Flats K8 are busy brainstorming and categorizing different topics. Pictured, from left, Jonaton Jeantry, Latonia Jones, and Skylar Lasseur are racing against a clock to brainstorm as many phrases, words or related categories as possible. Once their time is up they create different categories to narrow the topic for the words they wrote on their desks. Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County (BGCSLC) is opening its doors for non-members during school holidays. The single day drop-in service is free to members and only $20 for non-members at the Westside Club location at 3361 S. Jenkins Road in Fort Pierce. St. Lucie County Boys & Girls can soon come to the largest Club in Florida! In partnership with Westside Church in Fort Pierce, the newest BGCSLC site will access three buildings totaling nearly 55,000 square feet and 25 acres of outdoor recreational area. At the School Board Meeting on October 14th Dr. Judi Miller, Big Brothers Big Sisters, recognized winners from the Bowl For Kids Sake event. 100 % of all monies collected go to Big Brothers Big Sisters Reading Mentor Program. This year’s Bowl for Kids’ Sake proved to be inviting and exciting for participants in St. Lucie County as school teams and SLPS departments took to the lanes with other community organizations. Botanical Gardens Plant Sale Honor Guard

On February 10th and 11th, the Jaguar Battalion participated in the annual Port St. Lucie Botanical Garden Plant Sale. From 9:00 am to 4:00 pm both days, a Battalion cadet helped plant shoppers carry multiple plants or heavy plants to their vehicles. Participation in this event was a win-win for the Botanical Gardens as well as for the cadet who earned community service hours and donations for the Battalion.

Boom, Snap, Clap at St. Lucie West K8

Fifth-grade students in Mrs. Portee’s class played a game of Boom, Snap, Clap to sharpen their mathematical skills. Partners sat across from one another with a set of cards in between them. The teacher boomed, snapped, clapped and gave a rule for what to do with a decimal! Students quickly raced their partner to match the card in their set to the operation the teacher was referring to. They had a blast! \

Books, Science, and Smiles: Bayshore Elementary’s Literacy Week Parade

Bayshore Elementary wrapped up Literacy Week with a fun and memorable Storybook Character and Scientific Vocabulary Parade! Students showed off their creativity by dressing as their favorite storybook characters or transforming into vivid scientific vocabulary words. Parents lined the outside walkway, cheering and snapping photos as classes paraded by with big smiles and lots of excitement. The energy was incredible, and our students loved sharing their costumes and learning with the whole school community. Books and Blankets a Success at APF

Allapattah Flats K8 hosted a fun-filled literacy event called Books and Blankets, January 15th. Reading stations included the integration of math and science. Families rotated through stations led by teachers and staff. Some stations were set up outside and teachers read to students with flashlights and lanterns. We also had a visit from some nocturnal animals. Families enjoyed reading under the stars, making crafts, and gazing into the sky with telescopes.

Bookman Visits Bayshore Elementary

Bookman visited Ms. Budhram’s VPK classroom for Community Reader Day, and his presence truly felt like a gift. He shared a lively, engaging story all about numbers, encouraging the students to read along and become part of the adventure. His energy, warmth, and genuine love for books filled the room, creating an atmosphere where every child felt eager to participate.
