CA Moore Families Enjoy Parent Night

CA Moore Elementary School had its first Family Night in partnership with its 21st Century After-School Program and the Parent Academy of St. Lucie County. Families came out to learn about how to support their students with reading, how to access the Skyward Gradebook App on their phone, and how to utilize parenting strategies with their students. Everyone gathered for dinner and conversation when done. Thank you to everyone who came to support our students.

C-SPAN BUS VISITS SLWK-8

C-SPAN’s all-new 45-foot customized motor coach partnered with Comcast to engage teachers and students through interactive demonstrations of C-SPAN’s multi-platform public service resources. C.S.I. visits Treasure Coast High’s Criminal Justice Classes

Students from Mr. Rios’ Criminal Justice classes participated in a mock crime scene investigation.  The demonstration was set up by the Port St. Lucie Police Department’s Crime Scene Investigation Team.  Students observed the process from securing the scene to the physical collection of evidence.  This mock investigation provided hands-on opportunities for all of the students.

C.A. Moore’s Safety Patrol

C. A. Moore Elementary School held a swearing in ceremony for the team of student leaders who were selected to be on the 2016-2017 Safety Patrol Battalion. Principal Hedeen welcomed parents and special guests Chief Deputy Garry Wilson of the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Department, Deputy Chief Kenny Norris of the Fort Pierce Police Department, and Chief Brian Reuther of St. Lucie Public Schools to the event to honor the fifth grade students for the important role they will fulfill this year on campus as they lead, model, and support school safety. C. A. Moore’s Future Computer Engineers

21 Century students at CAM created paper laptops. They colored, cut, and glued their internal computer components into their paper motherboards. This skill will help them to identify alphabet keys on a keyboard.

C.A. Moore students celebrate family at Kids at Hope event

C.A. Moore students celebrated their parents and guardians at Kids at Hope Night. The students presented their parents with Very Important Parent certificates and wrote letters explaining why they loved them. C.A. Moore Safety Patrol Swearing-in Ceremony

C. A. Moore Elementary’s 5th and 6th grade students were sworn into Safety Patrol by our School Resource Officer, Officer Goz. Students had to complete an application and receive recommendations from their teachers in order to be a part of the Safety Patrol. Students were chosen based on their dedication to the school and what their teachers said about them. This year, both 5th and 6th grade students will be a part of the team. C. A. Moore kindergartners count and celebrate 100 days

Kindergartners at C.A. Moore Elementary School in Fort Pierce recently celebrated 100 days of school with a myriad of activities. Students had fun counting to 100 as they popped 100 balloons, in “I am 100 Days Smarter,” students colored a graph as they counted each shape to match the number of shapes, and during word work, the students wrote 100 words that they use in the classroom. C.A. Moore Elementary School participated in Celebrate Literacy, Florida Week by community members coming into the school to read.   Each classroom had a community person read to the students.  The guest readers read the book, The Giving Tree and each class now has a copy of the book.  Ms. Felicia Nixon, principal made a special presentation on morning announcements.  Lt. C.A. Moore had over 300 students who had 95-100% attendance for Quarter 1. Students had a chance to throw a whipped cream pie at the Attendance Team as their reward for coming to school. C.A. Moore – Building Technology Skills One Block at a Time

Students in 3rd – 5th grade have started a unit entitled What Can AI Do? They will be exploring a variety of AI technologies to establish a strong foundational knowledge about what AI is, how AI works, and how AI technologies might be used to help people. Students will be exploring several examples of AI programs to consider what tasks AI does well and which tasks AI does not do well. Butterfly Release at Mariposa Elementary

Fifth grade students at Mariposa Elementary observed the life cycle of a butterfly during their science unit on living organisms.  They learned about plant and animal adaptations, including complete and incomplete metamorphosis.  The students finished off this unit by releasing the butterflies into their natural environment. Fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Zoie Griffiths, releases a butterfly as Travis Nimal looks on.  

Butterfly Garden at SLE

St. Lucie County Retired Educators visited St. Lucie Elementary.  The Retired Educators of St. Lucie County donated all items needed to start a butterfly garden on campus to the classes of Ms. Kurtti and Ms. Lewis. Principal Woulard along with the entire staff and student body of St. Lucie Elementary are thankful for the beautiful addition to their campus.
