Cobra CERT Receives Donation From Sheriff

Delegates from the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office met with the Cobra CERT, or the Cobra Community Emergency Response Team, and provided a donation for $1,000.00 to support the group’s continued efforts. A special thank you is extended to the Sheriff and his officers for their support. Cobra CERT is an extracurricular program available to students at Fort Pierce Central High School. Cobra Carnival

A PBIS Event With over 30 student organizations, teams, clubs, and class groups participating, Cobra Nation came together for free activities and refreshments for purchase. From refreshing flavored lemonade from the Gardening Club to National Art Honor Society’s crave-worthy chicken wings, popcorn, snow cones, cotton candy, cupcakes, pancakes, fruit cups, chips, and hot dogs, students purchased tickets to exchange for their favorite treat. Cobra Campus Tours

When the new school year starts, new Cobra students are welcomed to campus. Part of the welcome and acclimation process is a campus tour for all ninth graders. Mr. Hoyos, a veteran automotive instructor takes extra time to introduce students to the skilled trades opportunities at Fort Pierce Central High School. Fort Pierce Central High School proudly celebrated the grand opening of the Cobra Café’s student-run culinary space “Espresso Edge & Bites” designed to showcase talent, foster hospitality skills, and serve as a vibrant gathering spot for the school community thanks to Chef Strell’s leadership! Operated by students in the Culinary Arts program, the Cobra Café offers hands-on experience in food preparation, customer service, and business operations. Fort Pierce Central High School (FPCHS) Cadets from the Cobra Battalion crossed the 100 community service-hour threshold this year. Anthony Knighton, a graduate of Fort Pierce Central High School is currently attending Southern Illinois University (SIU) where he was named as a finalist for the Jerry Rice Award.  Weighing in at 246 and clearing six feet by two inches, this defensive end from Fort Pierce, Florida set SIU freshman records and led all MVFC freshmen in sacks (6.5) and tackles for loss (11.0) this season. Cobra Adopt-a-Road

On Wednesday, September 20, 2015, the Fort Pierce Central High JROTC Cobra Battalion continued their commitment to a cleaner environment. More than 70 students headed out with pokers and garbage bags to clean up on South 25th Street. The Cobra Battalion has participated in the “Adopt-A-Road” program for many years cleaning up the section of South 25th Street between Midway Road north to Bell Avenue. After picking-up numerous bags of garbage and making the road cleaner, the Cobra Battalion headed back to the school to enjoy an afternoon bar-b-que and fellowship.

Coaches are slimed at Palm Pointe for good cause

Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition recently participated in the Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. This fundraiser helps teach students to value their health and to help those less fortunate and don’t have healthy hearts.  The top three student fundraisers from each class earned the opportunity to slime the physical education coaches. The middle school Hoops for Heart will be in February with the proceeds also going to the American Heart Association. Palm Pointe would like to thank Nicole Perez, the school representative from the American Heart association, for all her help. Pictured, from left, are … Read More

Coach Clements is the Buc’s Coach of the Week!

All of Cobra Nation congratulates our very own Coach Nick Clements for winning the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Foundation’s Coach of the Week Award! In recognition of his hard work and dedication, Coach Clements will receive a $2,000 grant from the Bucs Foundation and new gear from US Nike Football. Mr. Clements coaches our winning lady Cobras Flag Football team. Way to go Coach Clements!

CNA Scholarship Recipients

St. Lucie West Centennial High School hosted Senior Awards Night on May 17, 2018.  Midway Specialty Care Center awarded five scholarships to seniors having earned their Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) License. The CNA completer scholarship can be used for items needed for post-secondary employment in the healthcare field.  Students are being awarded this scholarship after meeting a specified criterion including pursuing a career in the health care industry.  Students scholarship recipients: Jasmine Castro, Dahnae McDonald, Melissa Stone, Marissa Powell, and Trinity Salisbury

‘Clifford’ celebrates Northport K8 book fair with students

Northport K-8 School kicked off its second book fair of the school year themed “Cruise Into Reading” by inviting Clifford the Big, Red Dog to shake the hand of parents in the parent drop off area and to welcome students into school to check out the book fair. Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital (Brenda Byk and Stacey Rhodewalt) in collaboration with SLPS’ Career & Technical Education (CTE) Department hosted a virtual employment informational session for our medical students.  This session provided entry-level employment information for our graduating seniors and steps to turn their career and educational goals into reality!  

Clerk of Courts presents check to Education Foundation

At the November 18th School Board Meeting, Mr. Joseph Smith, St. Lucie County Clerk of Courts, presented the St. Lucie County Education Foundation a check for $1,500 for the Adopt-A-Class campaign. Their support has helped over 20 classrooms. Clerk of courts encourages Garden City students

As part of Black History month, Joseph E. Smith, Clerk of Circuit Courts for St. Lucie County, spoke with second grade students at Garden City Early Learning Academy about his life and how they, too, can reach their goals and be successful. Mr. Smith is a native to Fort Pierce and graduated from Lincoln Park Academy. He worked in Washington, D.C., and then came back to St. Lucie County to serve the community. Smith is the first African-American Clerk of Circuit Courts in St. Lucie County, and is tireless in his efforts to give back to the community.
