Congratulations to Retired Lt. Colonel Saxton for being selected for a full scholarship to the Bob and Marion Wilson Teacher Institute from June 16-21 in Williamsburg, Virginia. This year, participants will learn more about “Evolving Perspectives on American Identity: Resistance, Revolution, and Reform (1607–1870).” The intensive Teacher Institute immerses participants in American history while staying in Williamsburg, the restored capital city of eighteenth-century Virginia. Fort Pierce Central’s Health Science Classes Connect Virtually with Indian River State College

Ms. Barbara Charles, Health Science Educator at Fort Pierce Central High School, hosted a virtual session with Ms. Michelle Cuba from Indian River State College’s Health Science department.  This event included all Ms. Charles’ face-to-face and virtual classes.  Students learned about the various programs, prerequisites for admission, and watched ‘Live in the Lab’ to have a full experience of a field trip through a virtual setting.

Fort Pierce Central’s Caputo earns aerospace camp scholarship

Fort Pierce Central High School freshman Andrew Caputo has been selected by the Stuart chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) for a $1500 scholarship to attend and study at the EAA’s Air Academy at Oshkosh, Wisconsin for one week in June. Andrew is presently in the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University/St. Lucie County Aerospace Academy located on the Fort Pierce Central High School campus. The students competed in a bracket-style tournament with focus, teamwork, and determination. On Saturday, October 11, twelve students from Fort Pierce Central’s CNA and Health Science Foundations classes participated in Inside the Operating Room: Robotic Discovery Day at HCA Lawnwood Hospital. Last week, the kitchen at Fort Pierce Central High School was full of energy as students enjoyed learning through a hands-on culinary experience led by Chef Strell and Chef Swertfager. The classroom transformed into a professional-grade kitchen, where students rotated through stations focused on fruit cutting, cookie making and decorating, and grilling. Fort Pierce Central High School Medical Academy sophomore Kathy Budge recieved a one on one learning experience with teacher Samantha Pullins on administering intramuscular injections. Kathy decided early in the year that she wanted to compete in Clinical Nursing at the recent Health Occupations Students of America Region Competition.
