Fort Pierce Central’s Lt. Colonel Saxton Selected for Prestigious Institute

Congratulations to Retired Lt. Colonel Saxton for being selected for a full scholarship to the Bob and Marion Wilson Teacher Institute from June 16-21 in Williamsburg, Virginia. This year, participants will learn more about “Evolving Perspectives on American Identity: Resistance, Revolution, and Reform (1607–1870).”

The intensive Teacher Institute immerses participants in American history while staying in Williamsburg, the restored capital city of eighteenth-century Virginia. During the Institute, teachers will learn techniques to actively engage students in a complete and diverse history that helps them see themselves in the story of our shared past. Throughout the session, teachers will work with Colonial Williamsburg staff and interpreters, analyze primary sources, and engage with people from the past.
