FPCHS Empty Bowls Project

Fort Pierce Central High School art students and culinary students are working together to bring awareness to a community problem.  For $15 anyone can purchase a bowl, fill it with fresh hot soup prepared by the school’s culinary arts students and when they are done eating, the bowl goes home with them as a symbol of all the empty bowls in the community. The bowls will be on sale at the Fort Pierce Farmers Market on Saturday, March 16th.  All proceeds benefit the Treasure Coast Food Bank. FPCHS Donates to Veterans

Fort Pierce Central High School JROTC cadets participated in the Wreaths Across America fundraising effort in the fall and raised over $1,100.  The dollars raised were donated to St. Lucie County’s local veterans organizations in an effort to honor the men and women who dedicated themselves to serving and protecting our country in the armed services. Immediate Past President of the Military Officers Association of America, Treasure Coast Chapter Bobbie Williams and Treasurer of the United Veterans of SLC, Inc. FPCHS Culinary Students Support Empty Bowls Benefit

This marks the 11th year for the fundraiser benefiting Treasure Coast Food Bank. Each year, hundreds of area school children create ceramic bowls by hand for the event. Filled with a serving of soup, they symbolize a meager meal and raise awareness and support for those struggling with hunger in the community. For $20, patrons will receive a custom tote and the bowl of their choice filled with fresh, hot soup. FPCHS Culinary Awards

On Saturday March 2, 2019, four Fort Pierce Central High School students, Sarahi Fraga, McClintock Hoeffner, Luz Martinez, and Hope Thomas, won third place in the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association’s 19th Annual Management Competition, sponsored by the University of Central Florida’s Rosen College of Hospitality & Tourism. FPCHS Celebrates Scholar Athlete

Congratulations to Fort Pierce Central High School Senior Laura Haggerty!  Laura was honored on Senior Day for her academic and athletic accomplishments.  With 4 Years Varsity Soccer and 3 Years Varsity Tennis, Laura will graduate this May from FPCHS with a 5.58 weighted GPA, and 3.98 unweighted GPA.  She will also graduate from IRSC with her AA degree on May 2, 2019.  Laura plans to attend the University of Florida in the fall to study engineering.  Congrats Laura!  Once a Cobra, Always a Cobra!

FPCHS Art Students Honored

FPCHS art students were honored by the 2019 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.  FPCHS student Noah Weston won an Honorable Mention for his Portfolio piece, Prize Chicken.  Student Justin Brunelle won the prestigious Gold Key Award from Scholastic for his photograph, Friend in the Dark.  Congrats to these two talented art students!

FPCH Automotive Students Tour UTI and MMI Orlando

Students in the Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair program at Fort Pierce Central High School went on a Field Trip to the Universal Technical Institute (UTI) and Motorcycle Mechanic Institute (MMI) locations in Orlando. The students toured the automotive, marine, diesel, and motorcycle programs. They showed genuine interest, asked many questions, and a couple of students plan to enroll in the automotive program.

FPC Young Floridian Candidates

Fort Pierce Central High School has a long and rich tradition of participating in the Young Floridian Scholarship program. This year is no exception. Brave Cobra students successfully submitted applications and mastered their individual interviews with three judges! Teacher and sponsor Mrs. Thompson had the honor of spending six months with the best of the best of the Cobra senior class. FPC Yearbook Advisor Back from Boston

Ms. Emily Royo, Yearbook Advisor at Fort Pierce Central High School, attended JEA/NSPA or the Journalism Education Association and its partner the National Scholastic Press Association conference in Boston, MA November 2nd-4th. Ms. Royo secured a grant sponsoring this incredible opportunity. The convention housed 4,662 High School students and advisors from all over the nation to attend expert classes on all things Journalism. The convention’s keynote speakers were three members of the legendary Boston Globe Spotlight Investigative Team that inspired the award-winning movie “Spotlight.” The one-hour classes took place during the day on Friday and Saturday. FPC Wrestling Champs Top 3 in the State!

Fort Pierce Central wrestling closed the season yesterday in epic form! For the first time in 27 years, Fort Pierce Central placed in the top 3 teams in the state (1994)! For the first time in 25 years (1996) Fort Pierce Central now has a state champ – Gabriel Jacas at 220 pounds. FPC Wrestlers- Champions at all Levels

This year, FHSAA made women’s high school wrestling an official sport throughout the state of Florida. Formerly, female athletes could compete in the FHSAA men’s division; however, female athletes would compete in club-organized events such as “women’s state championship” which was unregulated by FHSAA. FPC student Mia Weisbrod (soph.) competed in the men’s division both last season and this regular season at 106lbs. However, now that the postseason has begun, she entered into the women’s State Championship series which starts at the district level. FPC Wins with Scholastic Arts & Writing Competition!

FPC 3D Arts 2023 marks the 100-Year Anniversary of Scholastic’s Art & Writing Competition. This prestigious contest has awarded artists and writers including Andy Warhol, Slyvia Plath, Cy Twombly, Ezra Jack Keats, Joyce Carol Coates, Stephen King, Donald Lipski, and Amanda Gorman. Congratulations to all the FPC Ceramics III and AP 3D students for their first-time participation. Senior Vanessa Niederhofer won a Silver Key award for her Ceramic Dragon Bowl.  Junior Mariah Roman won Honorable Mention for the Heirloom Recipe Box. Junior Chris Flacon-Paulin won Honorable Mention for the mixed-media Built-In artwork (image not shown).

FPC Wins “Out of the Box” Award for School Display

Congratulations to the National Art Honor Society and sponsor Mrs. Emily Royo-Yeno for their tremendous display at the year’s St. Lucie County Fair, winning the “Out of the Box” Award. “St. Lucie Schools Navigating the Future” was the 2025 School Display Theme. NAHS has been hard at work since January designing, painting, and assembling the component parts to execute the Cobra’s road to greatness! FPC Wind Ensemble Earns Superior at State MPA

The Fort Pierce Central High School Wind Ensemble recently achieved a remarkable milestone, earning a Superior rating at the 2025 State Music Performance Assessment held on Friday, May 2nd. This is the first time our school has received this honor since 2015. Under the direction of Mr. Stephen Gabin and assistant director Ms. Cory Cas, the Wind Ensemble showcased months of dedication, teamwork, and musical excellence. FPC Volunteers at the Oxbow Eco Center

On a brisk Saturday December morning, the Fort Pierce Central High School National Honor Society (NHS) & FPC Gardening Club teamed up to support a natural gem! The Oxbow Eco Center is St. Lucie County’s sanctuary for outdoor enthusiasts, families, and pet walks on the trails. From archery classes to science lessons and nature-based art-making, the Oxbow is a true treasure. Teen volunteers from both clubs cleared weeds, debris, and resurfaced walking trails with pine needle beds. Students also worked on preparing seedlings for future planting.
