Lawnwood Leopards participated in a Vocabulary Parade! This vocabulary parade was inspired by a book called Miss Alaineus. The purpose of the parade is to help students learn interesting words and share their meanings and connections with others. This K-5 vocabulary parade was a hit!  GO LEOPARDS!

Lawnwood Leopards Participated in a Recycle Project

Third grade students from Mrs. Morris’ class and Mrs. Wright’s are helping the earth. Crayons are a petroleum product that takes many years to biodegrade. Lawnwood leopards recycled old and broken crayons. Students sorted and shipped the crayons to the National Crayon Recycle Program. Our students are keeping unwanted crayons from going into landfills. These crayons will be recycled and reused by more students. WAY TO GO!

Lawnwood Leopards on the Prowl Through Their Odyssey of the Mind

On Saturday, February 27th, 2016, several students from Lawnwood Elementary participated and were well-represented during the Palms Region Odyssey of The Mind Regional Tournament at Suncoast Community High School in Riviera Beach. Mrs. Santo’s third-grade students enjoyed the book Chocolate Fever written by Robert Kimmel Smith. Her students enjoyed the daily read-aloud, which allows students to enhance their reading comprehension, vocabulary, and listening skills. GO LAWNWOOD!

Ms. Henski’s kindergarten students are using manipulatives to represent addition and subtraction. They are also learning how to use their fingers and drawings to share their mathematical thinking.

Lawnwood Leopards Love Daily Read-Aloud Time

Ms. Owen’s third-grade students are enjoying Mr. Popper’s Penguins. The read-aloud provides the opportunity for students to read grade-level text with purpose and understanding.  It also enhances their accuracy and fluency skills. GO LEOPARDS!

Lawnwood Leopards Have Got the Beat

Lawnwood Leopards are learning how to use rhythm sticks to keep a steady beat. Ms. Evans, Music Teacher, is teaching second-grade students how to sing Native American songs and use the rhythm sticks to enhance their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and directionality skills. GO LEOPARDS!

Lawnwood Leopards Enjoyed Playing 9-Square in the Air During Physical Education Resource Class

During a recent PE class, our fifth-grade students thoroughly enjoyed this dynamic and engaging game. It was a great way to get everyone moving and having fun, and it also helped to strengthen teamwork and communication among participants. 9 Square in the Air is a fast-paced game that combines elements of volleyball and four square. The game is played with a large grid of nine squares elevated off the ground, and the objective is to keep the ball in the air while trying to eliminate other players by getting the ball to land in their square. Lawnwood Leopards enjoyed their read-aloud time! Lawnwood Leopards Enjoy Daily Read-Aloud Time

K-5 Lawnwood teachers provide daily read-aloud time.  Read-aloud time is a top priority at Lawnwood Elementary School because it enhances students’ vocabulary skills, improves comprehension, and fluency skills.  Our second-grade students are enjoying the Geronimo Stilton Series and the Junie B.
