The Port St. Lucie High School (PSLHS) Jaguar Cafeteria is undergoing a facelift. The school’s mascot is boosting school spirit around campus and what better place to make an impact than in the cafeteria! The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Team partnered with Westside Church and St. Lucie Public Schools to again offer a “beeping” Easter Egg Hunt on Thursday, March 29. The event took place at Westside Church. The Beeping Easter Egg Hunt was specifically offered for students with a visual impairment and featured special eggs that beep to help locate them. After the hunt, participants were given special goodie bags of treats to enjoy when they returned home. What a marvelous and celebratory morning in the Northport Media Center recently. Students from the 6th and 7th grade Northstar team were privileged to take part in an engaging program honoring the contributions of top-notch women from across so many arenas and avenues of life. Girls from the classes kicked off the program with a Maya Angelou poem and then used the alphabet to lionize many powerful and courageous women from all walks of life and in all areas of history and the present. The annual St. Lucie County High School Art Show opening is Friday, April 20th, from 5 to 8pm. This year’s show takes place in the Galleria of Pierce Harbor building at 100 S. 2nd St. in Ft. Pierce. An awards ceremony will take place at 7:15 after the closing of “Peoples’ Choice” voting. Students will be judged in 6 categories for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, plus a “Peoples’ Choice” award. Students from Lakewood Park Elementary enjoyed a creative twist to their math homework as they used the many items at the local Indrio Crossing Winn Dixie to help them solve grade level math problems. Parents and grandparents got in on the fun and drawings for Winn Dixie gift cards. What a great evening of mathematical fun!
Students and staff members from Lakewood Park Elementary participated in an engaging week of Spring Break Camp that was housed at C. A. Moore Elementary. Students had fun as they “pumped up” their core academics. The Falcons send a special shout out to the Explorers for their willingness to share their campus with us.
Below are the winners of the 2018 Drop Savers Water Conservation Poster Contest. Students demonstrated amazing talent and challenged the judges to select from a wide array of creative entries. Each student was presented with a prize for being selected as a local contest winner. Five of the student entries (noted with an asterisk) have been submitted to the state competition. For the last two years, St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) and the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) have worked collaboratively to create a community work experience for students with disabilities. Martha Taylor, Job Coach for ESE, and Mr. Douglas Baber, Human Resources Manager for St. Lucie County Board of Commissioners, along with the support of Mr. Howard Tipton and Ms. Frannie Hutchinson paved the way for the “Coffee Perks” program. PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – On Saturday April 21, test drive a new Buick and help Port St. Lucie High School (PSLHS) located at 1201 SE Jaguar Lane in Port St. Lucie receive up to $10,000. Garber Buick GMC in Ft. Pierce will have new Buick vehicles at the school for this Test Drive Event from 8:00am-3:00pm. For each 2-3 minute Test Drive, Buick will donate $10.00. Students in 3rd grade invited their parents to school for student led conferences. Students discussed what they learned and shared their goals for the year. Parents were able to see work samples and students’ tracking charts.
8th grade MOA students planted slash pine seedlings for the Moore’s Creek, Wesley Island restoration project. They will continue taking care of them until they are large enough to transplant where they are needed! What a great way to support our local waterways and learn proper growth care of plants! Grand Champions!! Forest Grove Middle School Chorus earned a Superior Rating for 1st Place Treble Chorus and overall Grand Champion for Vocal Performance at the Music USA Festival in Orlando! Awesome Bulldogs!! ???

Our MOA 6th graders had an awesome day getting their feet wet and searching the skies for birds that frequent our local ecosystem. Their findings help them to better understand our local waterways and how the animals coexist in the habitat. Our future environmentalists are hard at work! Way to go Bulldogs!
Pat Kelly, who this season guided the Treasure Coast High School boys basketball team to the best record in the program’s 12-year history, has been named the Florida Association of Basketball Coaches Class 9A Coach of the Year. First Grade just wrapped up completing student treasure books. Each student published an individual book full of their first grade writing. These kits will be mailed away today and they will each receive a FREE soft cover published book to keep, read and cherish forever! They have worked so hard!
