Morningside 5th Graders Collaborate to Explore the Planets

Fifth-grade AMP students at Morningside Elementary are delving into the wonders of our solar system as they explore the planets. Aligned with Florida Science Standards SC.5.E.5.1, SC.5.E.5.2, and SC.5.E.5.3, students are building knowledge of planetary characteristics, movements, and patterns. Through collaboration, one student researches while the other partner takes notes, and together they develop their PowerPoint using a shared digital document. More parents graduate from Title I basic computer classes

Parents from St. Lucie County Title I Schools have finished a Basic Computer Class at the Title I Parent Resource Center at Garden City Annex. Parents attended classes each week for seven weeks to learn basic computer skills, Internet Safety, how to use Skyward to monitor their child’s progress and learn to use Microsoft Word. The goal of the program is to help parents have the skills needed to help their child with their school work and to enhance the parents’ computer skills. Monthly Attendance Challenge at Bayshore Elementary

At Bayshore Elementary, we are excited to recognize and reward excellent attendance through our Monthly Attendance Challenge! Each month, the class with the highest attendance percentage earns the honor of displaying the Attendance Trophy on their classroom door. In addition to the trophy, the winning class also receives class-wide PBIS bucks, which can be used for special rewards and activities. Moment of Silence/Reflection

Port St. Lucie High School students take time during organized school-wide events such as the recent flag football game to reflect in remembrance of victims of violence.  Student leaders work with school administrators to plan school events and opportunities for students to voice thoughts, share ideas, and exercise positive civic responsibilities.

Mock Trial at Palm Pointe

Seventh grade students at Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition, along with The Honorable Judge Smartt of the St. Lucie County Court, held a mock trial for their Civics Class.  This was a great learning experience for everyone who participated. The students standing participated in the trial as the prosecutor, the defense, the witnesses, and the defendant along with their teacher Mrs. Anne Lulkin and Judge Smartt. The students seated made up the jury. Great job students.

MOA Senior Aneesa Dial Announced as Finalist in Florida’s Leader 4 Life Fellowship Program

In a surprise announcement, Aneesa Dial of Fort Pierce Westwood High School’s Marine and Oceanographic Academy (MOA), learned that she is one of 14 finalists for the Leaders 4 Life (L4L) Fellowship Program offered through the Take Stock in Children program at Indian River State College (IRSC). This is a prestigious statewide fellowship which is designed to provide highly motivated Take Stock in Children scholars who have demonstrated strong leadership skills, moral character, and academic success with the financial resources, services, and support needed to ensure student success throughout college. The annual Martin Luther King, Jr., parade drew thousands on Monday, January 16, lining 25th Street and Virginia Avenue in Fort Pierce. MLK Grand Parade

St. Lucie Public Schools proudly participated in the 33rd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Parade.  This year’s theme “Renewing a Spirit of Empowerment, Engagement, and Non-violence” was reflected in schools’ parade entries which included float designs, band performances, cheer and dance presentations, and more.  This year’s commentators were the District’s own Dr. Donna Mills and Dr. Kevin Perry.
