Oak Hammock K-8 Second Grade Students Discovery of Biomes

Oak Hammock second grade classes had lots of fun exploring the different biomes. Students learned important facts about their favorite animals by engaging in research activities to recreate the animal’s habitat, identify the specific community of vegetation and wildlife. The students created their own habitat at home as a family project and wrote an informational piece in class based upon their research.  All students had the opportunity to present, explore and learn about the habitat of many different animals. OHK-8 Promotes Bullying Prevention

Oak Hammock K-8 School Promotes Bullying Prevention with a Bulletin Board Decorating Contest! October was National Bullying Prevention Month. To celebrate, each elementary grade group and middle school team at Oak Hammock K-8 School participated in a bulletin board decorating contest with a theme of Bullying Prevention. Oak Hammock K-8 Ospreys in Action: Growing Pride, One Garden at a Time

Our school garden has always been a special place — a gathering space, a place of connection, and a central part of our campus. Recently, it became clear that it needed some extra love and attention. Oak Hammock K-8 Osprey Reward Program

Oak Hammock K-8 participates in PBIS program as a schoolwide reward system. Students in the self-contained classroom in grades 4th- 8th operate the Osprey Cart Reward Program. This program allows the self-contained students many opportunities to practice functional skills by utilizing the task analysis approach for learning. The classroom teachers, Ms. Savanello and Ms. Haley support the students by providing the online order form and assist the students in breaking down the task into manageable parts to ensure the orders are completed successfully. Oak Hammock K-8 Kindergarten Students Explore Reading With Nearpod

Students in Ms. Jackson’s Kindergarten class at Oak Hammock K-8, are engaged with a Nearpod lesson with the book Lizzie Little, The Sky is Falling. After interacting with the book, students were able to test what they had learned by competing to win ‘Time to Climb’ while Ms. Jackson helped and checked their sequence questions. Students celebrated and cheered their success’s as they answered the questions while watching their character race to the finish line.

Oak Hammock K-8 K–2 Ice Cream Incentive Celebration

On Thursday, April 2, Oak Hammock K–8 proudly celebrated the hard work and academic growth of our K–2 students with a special Ice Cream Incentive. This celebration honored students who demonstrated growth by increasing their scale scores from PM1 to PM2 in both Reading and Math. The event reflected The Osprey Standard—recognizing effort, perseverance, and a commitment to soaring to excellence. Oak Hammock K-8, 7th-grade students participated in the Project Citizen District Showcase. We are excited for our students in Mr. Sparacio’s Civics class for having the project “Wild About Wildlife” place in the top three projects. Students collaborated to address the concern of losing the local habitat of native animals in the surrounding community due to the alarming rate of homes and business development. Students, Teachers and Staff at Oak Hammock K-8 stands United as One during Bullying Prevention Month. Students demonstrated on campus they were Rising Above Bullying by working together in Grades 5-8 to create, throughout the school, “No Place for Hate” murals using feathers. Students, teachers and staff wore orange on Unity Day to show they were United as One. The 3rd Grade team displayed unity by reminding everyone, “You can sit with me #NOBULLYING”

Oak Hammock K‑8 recently transformed its campus into a joyful celebration of family, connection, and school pride during its annual Daddy Daughter Dance. The special evening welcomed young ladies from Pre‑Kindergarten through third grade to enjoy a night of music, laughter, and lasting memories alongside their fathers or father figures. Oak Hammock K-8 recently welcomed families to its annual Title I Family Night, “Falling into Literacy,” an event designed to strengthen early literacy skills and foster meaningful family engagement. In honor of Veterans Day 2015, Oak Hammock K-8 celebrated and honored all of their personal heroes. The wall of stars represent the friends and family members of the Oak Hammock staff and students that have served in the military. Ribbons were attached to the stars to represent special circumstances. On Wednesday, April 15, Oak Hammock K-8 was thrilled to welcome our Grade 3 students and families for an engaging evening centered on learning, academic growth, and preparation for FAST testing in May. Attendance was outstanding, and our students truly rose to the occasion as leaders of their learning. This past Saturday, the spirit of empowerment and teamwork filled the air at Westside Church in Fort Pierce as Oak Hammock K-8’s Girls on the Run team joined the 2025 Memories in Motion Celebration 5K. The event brought together girls, families, coaches, and community members for a morning of running, laughter, and accomplishment. Girls on the Run is more than just an after-school running program—it’s a movement that inspires girls in grades 3-5 to discover, build, and grow their self-confidence. Oak Hammock K-8 Girls on the Run Gives Back

Each season, with the guidance of Ms. Nancy Branim and Ms. Amber Martin, the Girls on the Run participants choose a project that positively impacts their community. The Girls on the Run participants at Oak Hammock K-8 converted an old newspaper dispenser into a Little Free Library. The girls beautified their Little Free Library by painting positive messages they learned throughout the program onto the old newspaper dispenser. The girls want to make sure all students feel inspired, valued and have access to a library that offers books that are free for all students.

Recently, our Oak Hammock K-8 first graders participated in an exciting, hands-on voting activity that brought social studies and math benchmarks to life. The lesson centered on citizenship, helping young learners grasp the importance of making choices and having a voice in their community. Oak Hammock K-8 First-Grade Students Learn to Take Their Time

Students in Ms. Reynolds’s first-grade class incorporated a STEM activity to help identify and explain the moral of their text, When I Hurry. Students collaborated with their table partner to create and build a tower from toothpicks and mini marshmallows. This STEM activity gave the students an opportunity to demonstrate the lesson vocabulary: teamwork, problem-solving, cleverness, and strength. The Osprey family is proud of the student’s accomplishment and their ability to take their time and build their best tower.
