Oak Hammock K-8 Hosts Annual Title 1 Night: Falling into Literacy

Oak Hammock K-8 recently welcomed families to its annual Title I Family Night, “Falling into Literacy,” an event designed to strengthen early literacy skills and foster meaningful family engagement. The evening brought together Kindergarten through 3rd-grade families for an interactive celebration of reading and learning.

The night began with a heartfelt welcome and an informative Title I presentation, where school leaders shared important information about Title I goals, resources, and ways for parents to get involved. Each family received a folder filled with handouts, literacy tips, and take-home activities to support reading at home. In addition, students received books that they can enjoy and share with their families.

One of the evening’s highlights was the UFLI for Parents session. School pods transformed into a cozy reading space, with families bringing blankets and towels to create a warm, inviting atmosphere. Teachers showcased the school’s reading program and demonstrated practical strategies families can use to reinforce literacy beyond the classroom. Grade-level pods offered interactive activities, allowing students and caregivers to learn together.

To add to the evening’s fun, families posed for pictures in a fall-themed photo area—creating lasting memories alongside meaningful learning experiences.

Oak Hammock K-8’s Title I Family Night was more than an event; it was a celebration of community and a shared commitment to nurturing a lifelong love of reading. Together, families and educators are building strong foundations for literacy!
