Palm Pointe Second Graders Create Pumpkin Book Characters

Second grade students at Palm Pointe were working on their summarizing skills this week.  Students were allowed to select a grade appropriate book of their choice and were tasked with retelling the events by giving a thorough summary of the book.  In addition to their summary, students used pumpkins to create a representation of one of the main characters in the book.  The second grade team invited all staff and students to come by and visit their storybook pumpkin display.  How amazing and creative our Palm Pointe students are!

Palm Pointe science buddies learn together

Recently, sixth graders from Michell Powers’ science class at Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition shared their expertise to their second grade “science buddies” from Melissa Bonet’s class. Together, students explored density in a hands-on inquiry activity. Both groups of students enjoyed the experience. Pictured, from left, are second grader Bradley Holtzclaw, with sixth graders Pasquale Giallongo and Giordano Fleuriot.

Palm Pointe Rocks! Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament

Palm Pointe celebrated National Rock, Paper, Scissors Day with a friendly competition between our faculty and staff during our Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament.  Teachers were given a friendship bracelet to begin with and were able to challenge each other during planning and lunch times throughout the day.  Winner took all at the end of the tournament, as colleagues cheered each other on.  Some teachers found creative ways to include their students in the fun, building classroom/school culture, and even using it as an opportunity to teach students about probability.  The chances of Palm Pointe enjoying National Rock, Paper, Scissors Day … Read More

Palm Pointe Rockets Take to Clover Park

Take me out to the ballgame! Palm Pointe night at the ballpark was so much fun. Thank you to the Mets organization for partnering with our school and district for this “cracker jack” event.  It was awesome to see so many Rockets and their families at the ballfield rooting on our local Mets team.  Way to go to our Vocal Vision Choir, for their beautiful rendition of the National Anthem! Palm Pointe Rockets Soar at Beta Convention

Palm Pointe’s Junior Beta members attended the Florida State Beta Convention in Orlando this week.  The National Beta Organization is a service based group that focuses on cultivating the ideals of academic achievement, character, leadership, and service among students. This organization celebrates students who strive to become the leaders of tomorrow. Students competed in individual and group competitions against other Beta chapters. Our Palm Pointe students placed in 17 different competitions and Laney Keys, one of our 7th grade students, was elected Beta Vice President for the State of Florida. Palm Pointe Rockets Soar as Superheroes

Students at Palm Pointe pulled out all the stops to act as Superheroes for the Toys for Tots program. Students and staff made a donation to the Toys for Tots program to support local kids in need. All proceeds raised will be used to purchase toys that will be used for this initiative. Our kids really are Super Heroes and are always ready to “Save the Day.”  

Palm Pointe Rockets Shoot for the Stars with STEM Projects

Palm Pointe sent 10 students to participate in the Regional STEM Fair.  The students presented their projects to three different judges and they were graded on a rubric that laid out all the criteria for the projects.  They presented in different categories and on a variety of topics.  In addition to gaining knowledge on the topic they presented, they learned life skills including meeting deadlines, presenting to others, and working through problems.  Our students did an amazing job, and we are so proud of them. Palm Pointe wears red for National Red Day!  National Red Day is held on the first Friday in February of each year to bring awareness to the fight against heart disease.  Our rockets showed lots of love by supporting this important cause.

Palm Pointe Rockets Odyssey Team is Out of This World

A huge congratulations to the Palm Pointe Odyssey of the Mind teams! This past weekend, elementary and middle school teams, led by Ms. Crooks, competed at the regional competition at Treasure Coast High School. Palm Pointe 1st Graders held a “Read to Your Sweetheart” event on February 13th.  Parents and families were invited to  celebrate all of the reading accomplishments that their first graders have made.  Boys and girls shared their love of reading with those that mean the most to them.

Palm Pointe Rockets Jump Rope for Healthy Heart Awareness

Each year the Palm Pointe Elementary Physical Education Department runs a yearly fund-raising campaign for the American Heart Association.  The Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser raised $5,200 this year.  Students have been learning healthy heart habits and how the heart works.  The P.E. Palm Pointe Recognizes Project Citizen Winners

The Project Citizen National Showcase was recently held, where students from Massachusetts to Arizona tackled problems in their community. Students from Mrs. Wright’s 3rd period Civics class from last school year earned an Exceptional rating on their project, “Water We Waiting For?” Last January, Hannah Dorval, Devin Habyan, Alexia Morgan, and Caleb Chuquillanqui represented their class at the district showcase, where they presented the class project, seeking to combat the high rate of child drownings in the state of Florida by proposing changes to public policy.  They were interviewed by multiple judges and answered questions about their proposed policy, which helped the … Read More

Palm Pointe receives mayoral award

On behalf of the staff, students and parents of Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition, Principal Debra Snyder proudly accepted The Golden Apple Award presented by Port St. Lucie Mayor Joann Faiella. This Mayoral Recognition was received for being an “A” rated school as designated by the Florida’s Department of Education for the fifth consecutive year. Palm Pointe Reading Olympians

As part of a strategic intentional review, 4th grade Palm Pointe students participated in a Reading Olympic Opening Ceremony competition. This was an exciting and engaging way to prepare for their upcoming FAST PM 3 test.

Palm Pointe Races to the Fair

Palm Pointe artists in grades kindergarten through eighth created a “Race to Greatness” display for the St. Lucie County fair. The artwork displayed captures our Rockets’ race to success through reaching our goals in reading, writing, math, science, history, and the arts.  Palm Pointe’s booth can be seen at the fair from February 24th through March 5th. Please stop by the fair school building to vote for our Race to Greatness booth.  The school building is located to the west of the rides past the stage and food.  Go Rockets!
