READ, White and Blue Literacy Week at Manatee Academy

Manatee Academy recently celebrated a memorable Literacy Week centered around the theme READ, White and Blue, bringing together students, staff, families, and community partners to highlight the joy and importance of reading. Throughout the week, every student and teacher participated in creating a schoolwide display by writing a favorite quote from a beloved book on a star. Read to Succeed event held at Mariposa Elementary

Mariposa Elementary School recently held its second Read to Succeed night. Assistant Principal Sandra Bushby, pictured, presented reading strategies and tips for parents to use with their children at home. Afterwards, everyone played Word Bingo, and all students went home with a new book to read! Assistan Principal, Sandra Bushby, presenting some reading strategies to parents.

Read Across America at CAST

Students at CAST celebrated Read Across America Day! Kindergartners did an author study on Eric Carle; they are hungry for reading! First graders recognized the amazing diversity in stories and wrote about what makes them special. Third graders went for a reading picnic and read outside.  

Reaching for the Moon at CAST

Our first graders have been having so much fun learning about the sun, moon, and different things we can see during the day and night sky! After reading many stories about the sun and moon, we wrote important key details that we learned on our fun craft!

Raising our AttenDANCE at Bayshore

Rainbow BRIGHT at White Elementary

Mrs. Steward’s 1st-grade SEL group at White City Elementary works on how they can band together and keep the rainbow BRIGHT  by reading “How Crayons Saved the Rainbow” by Monica Sweeney. She is a favorite from the SEL Dept. library collection.

RaceTrac Recoginizes SLPS District Office As Business of the Month

St. Lucie Public Schools District Office was recognized as the Business of the Month for RaceTrac location RT667. Race to the Finish with Text Features

At St. Lucie West K8, students in Ms. Paries’ third-grade class competed in a race all about text features. Using an informational article about technologies for hearing-impaired students, they used text features to answer questions and race to the finish!  

Race to Success Fun Run

Village Green’s RACE TO SUCCESS FUN RUN! All students were able to participate in the fun color run hosted by Village Green’s PBIS team as a kick-off for a successful testing season! Students and families had a great time being active and enjoying the weather. Students who raised $100 or more through the MYBOOSTER fundraiser had the opportunity to pie a faculty or staff member in the face!

Race to a Flat learned at Palm Pointe

Lorri Rudzinski’s second grade class at Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition is learning place value. They practiced a game, “Race to a Flat” to learn how ten ones can be replaced by one ten, and ten tens turn into a hundred. What a fantastic Hispanic Heritage Month it’s been at Port St. Lucie High School!  This week we are wrapping up our campus-wide celebration, and it’s been incredible to see students and faculty sharing their vibrant cultures and heritage with the whole Jaguar community. Today’s Hispanic Heritage Fair was the perfect finale! Quality instruction initiatives earn state recognition

The Department of Quality Instruction of St. Lucie Public Schools was recognized at the October 9, 2012, St. Lucie County School Board meeting for being honored by the Florida Association of Staff Development for its implementation and facilitation of the St. Lucie County Framework. QR Crazy at Southport

Southport 8th grade students were engaged in a technology enhanced practice for their current unit, Systems of Equations. Students, together in groups, answered questions as a team, then when they came to a consensus for their answer, they took turns being the “runner.” The “runner” went to the answer zone in the hallway and found the correct QR code that matched the answer they chose. They scanned the QR code with their phones which, if they chose the right answer the QR code gave them the next question. The students really enjoyed the activity. Purple and Gold Partnership

Fort Pierce Central Culinary students and Health Science HOSA students partnered for a successful HOSA Fundraiser. Chef Jesse Strell and Mrs. Samantha Jackson combined forces to host a Spaghetti Fund Raiser where and HOSA students sold 115 dinners, and Central’s Culinary students prepared the meals. Go Cobras!
