Students from C. A. Moore and Lakewood Park Elementary gathered for a Spring Break Tutorial Camp. Working alongside staff, they were able to spend time on reading and math while also enjoying extracurricular activities. During the camp, students were thrilled with the Oxbow Center’s Reptile Show, and many special community guests stopped by to spend time with students including officers from the Fort Pierce Police Department, Mr.Dan Frank, and Dr. Kevin Perry.          

To celebrate kindness this month for SEL, students were able to be the “I” in KIND. Children were able to participate in a number of other activities in which they displayed kindness across campus.

At Oak Hammock K-8, learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door—it stretches into the gym, where elementary students are discovering that math and movement make a powerful team! This week, our Physical Education program took an exciting turn by integrating 3rd grade math standards into hands-on activities that brought geometry to life. CAM’s staff enjoy working together. We know how to bring fun into the building. Each team was tasked with decorating a table and providing treats for students who earned 60 ClassDojo points. The students had a spooktacular time getting treats!

At Southport Middle School, Ms. Tauriello’s 7th-grade science class kicked off the school year with an exciting STEM challenge!  On the first day of school, Ms. Tauriello’s class dove straight into science with an engaging hands-on challenge. Students worked cooperatively to construct the tallest possible structure using spaghetti noodles that could support the weight of a marshmallow. At Southport Middle School, Mr. Guntow’s STEM students begin their engineering journey by designing and building bridges, blending creativity with structural principles. This hands-on project introduces them to key engineering concepts such as tension, compression, and load distribution. Students collaborate in teams to brainstorm, sketch, and construct bridge models using various materials. Southport Middle School had their annual back-to-school pep rally.  During this time students gathered in the gym to listen to SPMS expectations.  Students were also made aware of the character trait for Q1, COURTEOUS.  Students and teachers engaged in some friendly competition to see which team had the best cheer.  Students and teachers also participated in relay races trying to rack up points for their teams.  There was a special appearance made by the school mascot, Ivan the Ibis.  This back-to-school pep rally gears up our SPMS students and increases their school spirit.

Southport Middle School held its first PBIS event on Friday to reward students with no referrals for the past few weeks. Eligible students were able to choose from a variety of fun activities, including board games, arts and crafts, a movie room, gym free time, outdoor play, and tech games. This event was designed to recognize and encourage positive behavior, giving students a chance to relax and enjoy themselves. School Bus Driver Appreciation Day is observed annually on the fourth Tuesday of April.  This year it was Tuesday, April 22nd! Southport Middle School bus drivers were welcomed with wholesome breakfast treats and a beverage when dropping the students off in the morning. Students also made handwritten cards for the bus drivers expressing their gratitude and appreciation because a little ‘thank you’ goes miles. CAST artists in Ms. Swabon’s Visual Arts class were inspired by the Australian Papunya culture and community to create their own spirit animals. Their sensational artwork was showcased at the St. Lucie County Fair and embodied the theme of, “Dream Makers -Arts, Academics, and Athletics.”    

This week, our 8th-grade Historians at Palm Pointe took a step back in time—dressing in delightful tea party attire to bring history to life! As part of their daily lesson on the Boston Tea Party and the Intolerable Acts, students immersed themselves in the revolutionary spirit of 1773.
