The St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce Foundation congratulates the Young Floridian Scholarship Program Winners for the 2017-2018 academic year. The Young Floridian Award was established in 1988 by General Development Corporation to recognize outstanding seniors for achievement and service to their school and community. Young Floridian awards honor one St. Lucie high school senior in 15 academic or extracurricular disciplines. St. Lucie Centennial SWAT hosts meeting

St. Lucie West Centennial High School SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco) Club hosted the monthly meeting of the Tobacco Free Partnership of St. Lucie County recently. SS Teachers Recognized for Excellence

Social Studies educators from Pensacola to Key West made their way to Palm Harbor, Florida for the 60th Annual Florida Council for Social Studies Conference. Amid their peers, St. Lucie Public Schools educators were honored for teaching excellence. SRE Student Council School Beautification

Mr. Lewis’s Student Council members from Savanna Ridge Elementary, met for two hours on Saturday morning to clean-up the campus they love. The three members along with Mr. Lewis walked the entire campus collecting trash. While they beautified the school campus, they discussed how much they enjoy nature and their future goals and aspirations for Middle School.

SRE STEM Vocabulary Parade

Savanna Ridge Elementary students participated in a STEM vocabulary parade this week. Students created posters and costumes to illustrate their vocabulary word. Families were invited to attend the parade and enjoy all of the student creativity.

SRE Literacy Empowerment Night

Families had a great time at Savanna Ridge Elementary for Literacy Empowerment Night. Families learned of different resources available to support literacy at home and enjoyed a great dinner by Texas Road House!  

SRE #LearningAdventureCamp

Our Cranes had an awesome first week of #LearningAdventureCamp at SRE. Students are experiencing inquiry-based-learning at a very high level by engaging, exploring, explaining their learning, elaborating, analyzing, , and evaluating.

SRE Fire Safety

Savanna Ridge Elementary Pre-K, VPK, and Kindergarten students enjoyed a fire safety presentation delivered by the St. Lucie County Fire District. Students were given an opportunity to use the fire hose and take a tour of a fire truck.

SRE Chuck E. Cheese Fundraiser Night

Savanna Ridge Elementary PTO hosted a Chuck E. Cheese fundraiser night on Friday, 9/15/23. Our Crane families and teachers had a great time together helping to raise funds for our school. We even had Chuck E. Cheese visit campus before the event!

SRE – Attendance Matters!

Savanna Ridge Elementary administration, along with Deputy Spencer, thanked every family that arrived with their children on time, by handing out sweet treats to each family. We appreciate all of our families and are proud of our daily attendance rate of 94%.

SRE 5th Graders Examine Physical and Chemical Changes

The following pictures are from Mr Lewis’ 5th grade Science Class. They observed 10 changes together and had to decipher whether it was a physical or chemical change, then elaborate on what evidence they found that supports their reasoning. In the pictures, you can see students mixing glue and activator to make slime. Students discussed two liquids coming together to make a solid and identified it as a chemical change. SRE 5th Grade Living Organisms Activities

Savanna Ridge Elementary’s 5th grade students in Mrs. Spencer’s class enjoyed learning about living organisms through various projects and activities. Celery Experiment – Explored the process of water moving upward through the plant’s stem and into the leaves. Human Organs – students researched human organs and their functions.  The students did this as a jigsaw activity and followed up with a video report. Plant Dispersal experiment – Sock Seeds Activity We used old socks to gather seeds in the field then we planted the socks. SRE 2nd Grade – Habitat Survival 3-D Diorama

Second grade students at Savanna Ridge Elementary School explored plant and animal needs, habitats and how living things use their habitat to survive.  Students engaged in content rich informational text and conducted research with their families. Students expressed their understanding of the different animal habitats through a 3-D diorama display which showcased different animals, plants and the environment of that specific habitat.

Squeaky Clean!!!

On Saturday, September 18th, the Port St. Lucie High School JROTC Jaguar Battalion conducted their first car wash of the school year at O’Reilly’s located off US-1. Cadets were placed in different teams such as the wash team, dry team, and sign-holding teams. The cadets raised over $1000 which will offset field trips, military ball, and competition costs. It was a great success and a good way to give back to our community.  

Springtime Fun at Bayshore Elementary

At Bayshore Elementary, our caring counselors recently organized delightful springtime activities to uplift spirits and show appreciation for both students and staff. The event featured a paper egg hunt where teachers, staff, cafeteria workers, front office personnel, and support staff eagerly participated. Each person collected seven eggs, each worth specific points, with the highest scorer earning a special reward. All staff also received bracelets and stickers with positive messages. Additionally, counselors welcomed students with bunny-themed surprises, giving each student an egg with a note saying, “We’re eggcited you’re here!” along with a smelly sticker. Spring Concert at Mariposa Elementary

Mariposa Elementary recently had their Spring Music Concert. This was an “interactive” concert. Not only did the students perform, but the audience and parents also participated with singing, dancing, and playing instruments. What a fun evening for all! The concert included the Chorus, the Handbell Choir, and the Band. Spring Break Reminder!

This is a friendly reminder that Monday, March 18th through Friday, March 22nd is Spring Break. Faculty and staff return on Monday, March 25th for a workday. Students return on Tuesday, March 26th. Please note that 12 month personnel work March 18 – March 22. All students and staff will resume a regular schedule on Tuesday March 26th. Spring Break Camp

Students from C. A. Moore and Lakewood Park Elementary gathered for a Spring Break Tutorial Camp. Working alongside staff, they were able to spend time on reading and math while also enjoying extracurricular activities. During the camp, students were thrilled with the Oxbow Center’s Reptile Show, and many special community guests stopped by to spend time with students including officers from the Fort Pierce Police Department, Mr.Dan Frank, and Dr. Kevin Perry.
