The 3rd-grade students at OHK8 practiced music in resource with Tiffany Allen, the music teacher. They discussed instruments both traditional and non-traditional. They selected buckets as their first instrument lesson due to the school’s Bucket Band program returning in the spring. Students read and clapped rhythms before using their instruments. The next step to their success was having the ability to stay together as a group and control their volume to make themselves a part of a group performance. The last step was to discuss drumsticks and how they would affect the volume of playing. Once they understood that they need to continuously control their volume, they were ready for their first bucket performance.
