Lawnwood Families Attended a Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) Family Night

The Lawnwood Leadership Team hosted a PM3 Parent Night where parents learned about Florida’s statewide standardized assessments in English Language Arts (ELA) Reading, Writing, and Mathematics, which align with the Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards. The Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST), covering VPK through grade 10 ELA Reading and VPK through grade 8 Mathematics assessments, is administered three times per year as a progress monitoring assessment. Parents learned about computer adaptive testing, where test item difficulty adjusts based on student responses. They also learned about the types of FAST questions, test design summary, and blueprint, and viewed sample test items. The team explained the achievement levels and provided a thorough description of each. Additionally, parents received several handouts and online resources to support their student’s preparation for the PM3 FAST Exam. Overall, it was an informative session for the families of Lawnwood Elementary School.
