The Fort Pierce Central Speech and Debate team had an incredible week filled with competition, recognition, and opportunities to showcase their talent. Four of our outstanding members traveled to Palm Beach County to compete among hundreds of skilled participants—and they returned with impressive scores, valuable experience, and a big win!
- Anyely Roque-Perera earned an impressive 5th place in Lincoln-Douglas Debate.
- Nicole Lin delivered a powerful performance in Original Oratory, captivating judges with her speech.
- Our dynamic Public Forum Debate duo, Cecelia Biglin and Jesus Rivera Nieves, had exceptional rounds that demonstrated skill and teamwork.

The excitement didn’t stop there! On Monday, Jesus Rivera Nieves and Camila Salcedo Lind were honored with an invitation to the prestigious Governor’s Cup at Apogee Golf Club. They performed an exhibition debate promoting the Florida Civics and Debate Initiative during a fundraiser benefiting the Florida Education Foundation. These talented students had the unique opportunity to debate in front of Governor Ron DeSantis and engage with distinguished guests, including state senators, university board members, business leaders, and even Florida’s 2026 Teacher of the Year.
We are proud of our team’s dedication, professionalism, and passion for debate. Their achievements reflect the excellence and spirit of Fort Pierce Central! Congratulations to our Cobras and Mrs. Jennifer Wright, our proud Speech & Debate Sponsor!
