As part of Literacy Week, Fairlawn Elementary brought learning to life with an exciting and interactive “Human Scrabble Day.” Students proudly wore a letter of their choice and worked together with classmates to form words, turning teamwork and creativity into a powerful literacy experience. Classrooms and hallways were filled with laughter, movement, and meaningful conversations as students arranged themselves to spell simple sight words, longer vocabulary terms, and everything in between.
This hands-on activity helped reinforce spelling, phonics, and word recognition in a fun and memorable way. By collaborating with peers, students practiced problem-solving and communication while strengthening their reading and language skills. Human Scrabble Day showed students that learning can be active, social, and enjoyable. Fairlawn Elementary continues to make literacy engaging and meaningful, inspiring students to build confidence and a lifelong love of reading and words.
