Fairlawn Elementary is bursting with pride as our incredible 4th and 5th grade students took on the Odyssey of the Mind State Competition—and absolutely shined! Odyssey of the Mind is an international creative problem-solving program that challenges students to think outside the box, work as a team, and use their imagination to solve unique, often humorous problems. Students spend months designing solutions, building props, and practicing performances that showcase their creativity and critical thinking skills.
At the start of the year, under the guidance of Ms. Neshkoff and Mr. Renschler, the goal was simple: make it to state. Not only did they achieve that goal, but they soared past it by earning an amazing first place win! These students have dedicated countless hours, showing perseverance, teamwork, and innovation every step of the way—all while having so much fun together.
Their hard work has opened the door to an exciting opportunity to compete at the World Finals in Iowa! This accomplishment adds to Fairlawn’s proud tradition, following a national championship win in 2022 and another state appearance in 2023. We couldn’t be more proud of this talented group—way to go, Patriots!
