Fairlawn Elementary’s first-graders had an out-of-this-world adventure during their recent field trip to the Indian River State College Planetarium! What made the experience even more special was that students were able to walk there together, enjoying the beautiful day and the excitement of heading to such an amazing local resource right in our own community.
Once inside the planetarium, students were captivated as they learned about the sun, moon, stars, and planets. The immersive show made it feel like they were traveling through space, sparking curiosity and wonder in every young learner. They asked thoughtful questions and connected what they’ve been learning in class to what they saw projected above them.
It was such a wonderful reminder of how fortunate we are to have incredible learning opportunities so close to Fairlawn. Being able to walk to the planetarium made the day even more meaningful. Our first graders had a fantastic time exploring the universe — and they represented Fairlawn proudly every step of the way!
