Mathletes Compete in Local Olympics

Students from 12 high schools in St. Lucie, Martin and Indian River counties flexed their mathematical muscles in the annual Math Olympics hosted by the Indian River State College Mathematics Department. Participants competed both individually and as teams from Clark Advanced Learning Center, Fort Pierce Westwood, Indian River Charter, Jensen Beach, John Carroll, Lincoln Park Academy, Martin County, Port St. Lucie, St. Edward’s, St. Lucie West Centennial, South Fork and Vero Beach high schools. Each year St. Lucie Public Schools commends its Young Authors with a celebration. Trane Case Study in St. Lucie Public Schools

St. Lucie Public Schools put together an energy advisory board, consisting of vendors, engineers, district staff, utility company personnel, architects, engineers, school board members and others, to address ways to reduce utility costs. Rather than just considering individual schools with immediate needs, the group outlined a long-term plan for the entire district, looking at systems that would need to be replaced in five, ten and fifteen years.
