Village Green hosted their annual Trunk or Treat and Boo Bash event this past Friday! Students and their families had a great time celebrating this event. Thank you to the wonderful PBIS team at Village Green for putting on an unforgettable experience for our students, complete with a DJ and Haunted Hallway!

100 Club At Village Green

Congratulations to Village Green’s 100 Club Members! We are so proud of our students and teachers who achieved an incredible milestone by scoring 100% on their Unit and District Tests. To celebrate this achievement, our talented students and dedicated teachers gathered at Celebration Station to enjoy a special treat. A big shoutout goes to the teachers, who earned a special gold star for having the most participants in the 100 Club! Your hard work and encouragement play a significant role in our students’ success.

Village Green Environmental Studies School Explore Space

In celebration of a successful unit of study on Space, 5th-grade students at Village Green Environmental Studies School eagerly wanted to do a roundup of activities centering on the unit’s learning.  Students in Dr. Venzen’s Science class chose activities on creating an image of the sun (the Star of the Solar System), comets, and the phases of the moon, as some of their cherished learning experiences.

It Got Corny This Week at VGESS

Fifth graders at Village Green Environmental Studies School were excited to celebrate the completion of their reading unit on corn. Over the past few weeks, 5th grade has explored the fascinating world of corn through informative texts. They delved into its history, its significance in different cultures, and even the science behind its growth and uses. To celebrate the end of this enriching unit, they planned a special Corn Celebration Day! This event was a fun and educational culmination of all that the students have learned and experienced.

We are bursting with pride for our incredible students who truly embody Manatee spirit! As they wait for class to begin, they are making the most of their time by engaging in meaningful activities. Whether it’s diving into a book, practicing reading fluency passages, or tackling fractions, they are showing us what it means to be proactive and dedicated learners. Budding Entomologists at VGESS

Students in Ms. Huskiewicz Kindergarten class are becoming little entomologists this week as they study the life cycle of butterflies. Ms. H’s students each have their own observation journals to keep track of the stages of life of the butterflies. They are also learning about the different parts of a butterfly. Soon they will release them into our school garden!

VGESS Scientists

Village Green’s 4th-grade scientists were investigating the cause of day and night in Ms. Cole’s class this week.  As they experimented with miniature globes and light, they discovered that the rotation of earth creates day and night. They also used their miniature moons to investigate why the appearance of the moon goes through phases in a pattern every 28 days.

Smarties at VGESS

At Village Green Environmental Studies School, students in Ms. Angle’s Math Class used Smarties to build different arrays to model multiplication problems. Once they modeled the problem, they completed a multiplication chart to include in their interactive notebook. Students had a blast with this interactive math activity!

VGESS Green Out Spirit Night

VGESS Green Out School Spirit Night with the St. Lucie Mets was a huge success! Thank you to Clover Park and the St. Lucie Mets for hosting our fundraiser. Students came out in their shades of green to enjoy the game and were able to run the bases afterwards. Dean Christopher did a fantastic job throwing out the first pitch of the evening! Thank you to everyone who came out to support VGESS, we appreciate the support!

VGESS Back To School Luau

The PBIS team at Village Green Environmental Studies School hosted their annual Back To School Luau for students who displayed Manatee P.R.I.D.E. this month. Students who participated showed politeness, responsibility, integrity, and effort and we couldn’t be more proud of our little World Changers! Thank you to Kona Ice for your continued support, the kids loved it!

VGESS Students Are Safe, Kind and Honest

VGESS Takes Flight

Dr. Jacqueline Venzen and Dr. Thomas Gay, fifth-grade science teachers at Village Green Environmental Studies School, engaged their classes in conducting hands-on scientific investigations regarding paper airplane flight.  Students had to identify a problem, develop a hypothesis, plan and carry out systematic observations, outline a plan of action, and test their airplane design as they recorded their results.  Students were actively engaged in demonstrating their understanding of the scientific process as they let their paper airplanes take flight in an outdoor setting.  Students also conducted additional research regarding airplane design and which designs were best suited for long-distance airplane flight.

VGESS Rolls Out the Green Carpet

VGESS Faculty and Staff are thrilled to kick off another amazing year! Village Green’s incredible World Changers strutted down the green carpet, greeted by the cheerful cheers of teachers and staff celebrating their return! We are ready to make this year unforgettable, packed with learning, fun, and adventure. Here’s to new beginnings and a fantastic journey ahead!

Village Green’s PBIS Carnival

Village Green’s spectacular PBIS team hosted their annual End of Year Carnival for students who displayed positive behavior and met the school-wide PBIS expectations throughout the school year. Students and their families enjoyed an afternoon filled with bounce houses, interactive games, an obstacle course, dunk tanks, and even a petting zoo! Principal, Mrs. Boria was in the dunk tank, and Assistant Principal, Mrs. Drost was voted by students to get pied in the face. It was a fun event and we are so happy to be able to celebrate the end of a successful year!

Science Bowl at Village Green

It was a scientific event to remember at Village Green Environmental School as 5th-grade students participated in the annual Science Bowl. This is a true testament that these 5th graders are part of Village Green’s rising scholars, as they originally ended in a three-way tie between Mrs. Corley, Mrs. Smith, and Dr. Venzen’s Homeroom students. In the end, victory was achieved by Dr. Venzen’s “Patriotic Pioneers.” Congratulations to all of our scientific world changers! We are so proud of you!

VGESS 5th Grade Performance

We would like to congratulate the Village Green 5th graders for putting on an amazing performance last week! Thank you to Dr. Reynolds, Mr. Madden, and the talented students from Port St. Lucie High School who organized and directed the performances. Our 5th graders have been working hard since August and last week their dedication and hard work paid off! Well done World Changers!

Race to Success Fun Run

Village Green’s RACE TO SUCCESS FUN RUN! All students were able to participate in the fun color run hosted by Village Green’s PBIS team as a kick-off for a successful testing season! Students and families had a great time being active and enjoying the weather. Students who raised $100 or more through the MYBOOSTER fundraiser had the opportunity to pie a faculty or staff member in the face!

VGESS Lights It Up BLUE for Autism

Faculty and staff at Village Green Environmental Studies School were encouraged to “Light It Up Blue for Autism” on Friday, April 19th. VGESS is helping to spread kindness and increase autism awareness during the month of April.
