FPWHS Agriscience Hosts Virtual Field Trip

Fort Pierce Westwood High School agriscience students and their instructor Jenna Blankenbaker hosted a virtual field trip for middle schools.  Using the virtual meeting platform Skype, classrooms from Northport K-8, Manatee K-8, and Allapattah Flats K-8 connected with the Westwood FFA Officers to see animals, technology, tools, and highlights of the program.

Fort Pierce Westwood High School students welcomed their new culinary instructor Chef Jeanne Gray! The students and Chef Gray baked sweet treats for Valentine’s Day.  

Fort Pierce Central BETA Club Qualifies for Nationals

Fort Pierce Central (FPC) High’s BETA Club celebrated a winning performance January 16-17 in Orlando at the State BETA Conference. They placed 3rd out of 17 teams in the Quiz Bowl Competition and qualified to compete at National BETA Convention this summer in Nashville, TN. Since this was the first time they participated at State Convention the team was thrilled with their results! Congratulations Cobras! Students benefit from summer internship program

While many might have enjoyed a summer “get-away” at the end of the 2013 school year, Cindy Hill, Fran Casner, and colleagues in the school district’s Facilities Department planned real-world, first job experiences for Career and Technical Education (CTE) summer interns. As in past years, the 2013 Summer Internship Program proved to be a great experience for 17 St Lucie Public Schools students. Fort Pierce Central culinary students experience lifetime learning trip

Fort Pierce Central (FPC) High School culinary students, from left, Micah Bowen and Madison Moon attended the Annual Heritage Harvest Festival in Charlottesville, Virginia Sept. 6 and 7 at Monticello, the historic home of Thomas Jefferson. Culinary instructors Peggy Ash, third from left, and and Barbara Schwenger chaperoned the students and secured funding for this opportunity of a lifetime! On Tuesday, September 17 four Culinary Institute of America (CIA) chefs presented CIA at St Lucie West Centennial High.  Over 92 high school students from St Lucie West Centennial (SLWC), Fort Pierce Central, and Martin County High participated in four workshops: Chef Donald Sedivy-CIA Graduate and local Chef working in prestigious Private Clubs demonstrated a Garde Manger appetizer (chopped fresh veggies showcasing Florida tomatoes, mangos, avocados, and lump crab meat); Chef Harrison Kantor-2013 CIA graduate prepared an ethic dish of Falafel with Tahini Sauce; Chef Arnym Solomon-CIA Trustee Emeriti prepared Caribbean Style Stews; and Chef Jacqui Pressinger- CIA Assistant Director … Read More

FPC Aerospace Internships

Summer 2013 proved to be an exciting time for Fort Pierce Central (FPC)/Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) students.  Eight FPC/ERAU Aerospace Institute students, 10 – 12 graders, were selected to be the inaugural class for a new internship program launched in cooperation with Renegade Light Sport Aircraft of Fort Pierce.
