The cadets who participated in the Camp Joy Orienteering Training Weekend did an outstanding job representing the St. Lucie West Centennial High School NJROTC Black Talon Unit. Throughout the weekend, cadets learned and practiced the fundamentals of land navigation, including proper compass use, map reading, identifying terrain features, determining bearings, and navigating from one control point to another. Cadets spent significant time developing and refining their orienteering skills through hands-on instruction and practical exercises. On September 11, St. Lucie West Centennial High School NJROTC cadets gathered at the school’s flagpole to honor and remember the victims, first responders, and families affected by the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Twenty-five years ago, 19 terrorists associated with al-Qaeda hijacked four commercial airplanes in a coordinated attack against the United States. Cadets from the St. Lucie West Centennial High School Black Talon NJROTC Unit participated in the Do You Give A Ruck? Freedom Festival and Memorial Ruck, a community event held at the Indian River State College Pruitt Campus in Port St. Lucie. The event brought together members of the community to honor those affected by the events of September 11, 2001, while recognizing the service and sacrifices of veterans and first responders. On April 10th, SLW Centennial NJROTC proudly celebrated its 25th Annual Military Ball.
