CAST Creativity with Scientific Knowledge

The 6th-grade science class at CAST has been hard at work combining creativity with scientific knowledge to get ready for hurricane season. As part of a special assignment, students explored what goes into a hurricane supply kit—and they didn’t just write about it!
Each student chose a unique way to showcase their understanding: some created informative videos, others designed eye-catching posters, built engaging PowerPoint presentations, or wrote thoughtful essays. These projects highlighted not only what supplies are essential during a storm, but also the importance of preparation and safety.
From flashlights and first-aid kits to water bottles and weather radios, students demonstrated a strong grasp of both the science behind hurricanes and the practical steps families can take to stay safe.
