Manatee Academy K-8: 2025 Taylor’s Teddy Bear Drive

Last month, Manatee Academy K-8 held its 2025 Taylor’s Teddy Bear Drive. Taylor’s Teddy Bears is a nonprofit organization founded in memory of Taylor Wade Bishop, who tragically lost his life in a plane accident on March 15, 2021. In honoring Taylor’s compassionate spirit, the organization seeks to bring comfort to children in distress by providing teddy bears to first responders. These small, comforting gifts are intended to be distributed by firefighters, police officers, and sheriff deputies to children they encounter in crisis situations. The goal is to offer a sense of security and warmth to children facing some of their most difficult moments.

In support of the drive, students from Manatee K-8 came together to bring in teddy bears, contributing to the organization’s mission. Their efforts played a vital role in helping to gather the bears needed for distribution. The drive provided 350 bears to four key local agencies: the St. Lucie Fire Department, St. Lucie Sheriff Department, St. Lucie Police Department, and Fort Pierce Police Department. These agencies are critical in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community, and the teddy bears will serve as a small yet impactful tool in helping to ease the emotional distress of children during emergency situations. By supporting these first responders, the students and staff at Manatee Academy K-8 have demonstrated their deep commitment to supporting Taylor’s Teddy Bears, which continues to honor Taylor’s legacy of kindness and empathy, bringing comfort and hope to those in need.
