Sixth grade students enjoyed an engaging, positive, and busy time at Southport’s annual Student Retreat. This year the Marlins and the Bobcats each had their own day for students to participate. There were activities and games throughout each day, as well as small group discussions where students learned about each other’s likes and dislikes. Officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced Treasure Coast Senior Ryan Lu as a Semifinalist in the 65th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. As a talented High School Senior, Ryan has an opportunity to continue in the competition for a National Merit Scholarship. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Ryan must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level of competition. Over 100 Dads attended this annual event. Dads and students enjoyed a healthy breakfast while Mr. Chambers provided words of encouragement.  

Saturday, September 28, 2019, the Port Saint Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion conducted their first car wash of the year. Approximately 30 cadets from the program volunteered to wash cars from 8A.M. to 12P.M. Money raised at the carwash went towards the Raider team and miscellaneous JROTC activities/events. This was a fun event that brought the cadets out to the community and helped to teach the cadets the value of teamwork and communication. Overall the event had a great turnout and was full of positive energy throughout the day.

The middle school art program, under the instruction of Mrs. Susan Wessel, studied the work of Mark Jenkins, who is an installation artist from Washington D.C.  Students created sculptural pieces resembling Jenkin’s work.  Artists used packaging tape to construct the life size sculptures.  They planned their sculpture’s location and purpose throughout the campus including the buddy bench, school library, common areas, and school garden.  The Palm Pointe artists’ objective was to make their fellow students stop, look and think about the art they see.  It is so exciting to see the impact the sculptures are having around campus.  Artists definitely … Read More
