At Mariposa Elementary, Mrs. Linda Auciello’s 1st grade students Olivia Watson, Joseph Rivera, Houston Bidot-Lascala, Kierstin Maggard and Brayden Myers are creating 3-D shapes using Play-doh and toothpicks. Math centers are practiced to ensure students stay engaged and gain a variety of different learning opportunities within their classroom.
Lawnwood Elementary Faculty and Staff participated in the annual College Colors Day on August 31, 2018. Students were introduced to fun facts about various colleges and universities.

Florida’s Best and Brightest Teacher Scholarship Program, established by the Florida Legislature, offers classroom teachers a monetary scholarship based on SAT or ACT scores and job performance evaluations. To qualify, a classroom teacher must have received a “highly effective” rating on their most recent performance evaluation and have scored at or above the 80th percentile on the SAT or ACT. Port St. Lucie High School had its second game of the season at 7pm, Friday night on August 24, 2018. Our Cadets set out for the parking lots around 5pm to collect fees and welcome our guests. Our Jaguar Battalion’s JROTC Color Guard kicked off the night with the presentation of the colors commanded by Sergeant First Class Lawrence Moleon-Mathews, with Sergeant Justin Bennett as the state flag, Corporal Alex Nangle as state guard, and Sergeant Justin Locklar as national guard. Chief Brian Reuther of the SLPS Security Department announced today that Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers banners will be placed in all K-8 and middle schools as a step toward expanding awareness of the Crime Stoppers program. Last year, in partnership with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, the program began on high school campuses. Safety is a priority for SLPS, and the District will remain vigilant in monitoring campuses and buses.
