Build a Future
Hosted by Dr. LeiNitia Robinson

 

On this month’s episode, Dr. LeiNitia Robinson talks to David Slover, a teacher at Port St. Lucie High School, discussing Building Construction Technologies. He is joined by Anthony Shannon, one of his students.  Mr. Slover explains what the program is, which includes a wide range of building construction, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding and more. Mr. Slover explains how his previous experience in the construction field helps connects 21st century skills to the classroom experience.

The discussion topic focuses on what students learn and are able to do. Anthony explains how he got into the program and what his career plan is. Anthony’s favorite project was the stage building for the drama performance, such as making a Christmas tree and a wooden reindeer. David Slover also explains how he helps his students experience their mistakes to help the students learn from it and improve.
