Veteran Parades at Frances K. Sweet and Chester A. Moore

On November 9, WLX Horizon went out to Frances K. Sweet Elementary for their Veteran’s celebration. Fort Pierce Westwood Academy’s JROTC and Color Guard also came out to assist and perform for the students and veterans.

Excited students and staff lined up at the bus loop as police sirens and cars drove by. Students and staff cheered and waved toward the people in the parade.

Students stood for the Pledge of Allegiance, celebrated, and learned about Veterans. Frances K. Sweet, Sweet Sounds also performed “God Blessed America” for the Veterans with Mr.  Freddie Favors, music director.

The Ft. Pierce Sheriff’s Department/Honor Guard also performed the folding of the flag.

On November 10th, WLX Horizon also went out to Chester A. Moore to celebrate and learn about the Veterans.

Fort Pierce Westwood Academy also came out to help with the parade. Many classes lined up in the hallway as the Veterans marched in. They were welcomed by cheering and clapping students and staff as the Veterans walked by.

The parade walked into the cafeteria full of staff and 3-5th grade students, ready to honor and learn about the Veterans.

Second-grade teacher Ms. Michele Mcpherson sang the “Star-Spangled Banner” in front of the crowd.

Guest Speaker Mr. Frank Johnson spoke to the students and staff about who he is and who the Veterans are.

Chester A. Moore’s fourth and fifth graders gave the “Tokens of Appreciation” to the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines in attendance.
