White City Elementary JBN club spreads cheer

White City Elementary School’s JBN Society (“Just Be Nice”) spread some happiness a little further down the street recently. JBN’s seven members and two chaperones took a walking field trip from White City’s campus about a half-mile
down Oleander Avenue to Divine Senior Care, an assisted living facility that is set up like a cozy home for its nine residents. The students spent about an hour with their new friends, learning about their families, hometowns, and memories from elementary school years ago. Beatriz Ortega, a fifth grader at White City Elementary and one of the founding members of the JBN Society, chatted with a sweet friend named Rosalee who has lived in Florida since she was a baby, and who used to play the saxophone and dance for extra money.  Third grade JBN member Patrick Rodriguez
met a man named Paul, who moved to Florida from California, after retiring from the cattle farming industry there. The visit ended with a long game of Bingo, followed by lunch for the JBN members at White City Elementary business partner Frank and Al’s restaurant. Without a doubt,  JBN students and Divine Senior Care’s residents all had smiles on their faces after having spent this valuable time together.
