Superintendent E. Wayne Gent serves as the leader of St. Lucie Public Schools. Prior to assuming this leadership role, he was Palm Beach County’s Superintendent for four years. Mr. Gent is a dedicated educator who has served in a variety of roles including: teacher, coach, principal, State’s Principal in Residence, Area Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Learning Support, and Chief Officer of Administration.
In 2014, under Superintendent Gent, the School District of Palm Beach County out-performed Florida and all other large urban school districts with a graduation rate of 84%. Palm Beach was the only large urban district to raise its graduation rate.
Superintendent Gent graduated from Mars Hill College with a Bachelor of Arts degree and received his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Georgia.
