On March 3, students in Mr. Grundstrom’s Holocaust Studies class visited the Holocaust Memorial in Miami Beach for an impactful learning experience. The trip gave students the chance to explore the history of the Holocaust in a setting that encourages reflection and understanding. During the guided tour, students examined the events that led to the Holocaust and the experiences of those who lived through it. They were also welcomed by a Holocaust survivor who shared his personal story. Opportunities like this are rare, and hearing directly from a survivor helped students grasp the depth of this tragedy in a way that classroom instruction alone cannot provide.
Students expressed that the visit helped them better understand how people can be capable of great good and great evil. They also reflected on how important it is to recognize the trauma of the Holocaust and to stand against hatred in all forms. Experiences like this support their academic growth while strengthening empathy and global awareness.
This field trip will stay with our students for many years, and it reflects the commitment of Treasure Coast High School to providing meaningful learning opportunities. We are proud of our Titans and grateful for their thoughtful engagement as they continue to grow into responsible and compassionate members of our community.
