Treasure Coast High School instructor Leinitia Robinson and students in the school’s Criminal Justice Academy participated in the inaugural Hometown Lunch Fest and Port St. Lucie Police Department Open House. While there, students received tours of the police department and were informed by detectives, crime scene investigators, the Chief of Police and other key personnel about careers in law enforcement. Two of the most memorable were the police dog and SWAT demonstrations. Overall, the students enjoyed the visit, felt more connected to the police department and appreciative of the safety and security they provide. Most important, the visit reinforced for many the curriculum in the classroom and provided a renewed sense of purpose for students interested in the criminal justice field.
