On April 10, 2019 Career Source Research Center hosted the 4th Annual Treasure Coast Homeless Veteran Stand down. The Stand Down brings together government agencies, housing providers, nonprofit agencies, and local businesses to connect homeless veterans with permanent and supportive housing, intensive case management, benefits eligibility screening, employment, legal assistance, and mental health services. Veterans are provided with basic needs, such as food, shelter, clothing, hygiene kits, shoes and blankets.
This year Treasure Coast High School’s AFJROTC unit participated in the event donating different items such as first-aid kits, food, and toiletries. The unit sent three cadets to distribute the items collected by the cadet corps to the homeless veterans. The event helped 41 homeless veterans as well as 23 homeless citizens. There were over 28 community partners involved in this worthy annual event.
