Dan McCarty Students Win First Place at 2015 District History Fair Competition

The top prize in the Group Website category went to Dan McCarty students, Tiferne Jean, Jr., Jesus Hurtado, and Hakeem Jean-Baptiste for their excellent interpretation of George Washington’s “Leadership and Legacy,” hence, this year’s National History Day (NHD) theme.   NHD makes history come alive for students by engaging them in the discovery of the historical, cultural, and social experiences of the past. The students tackled the task of selecting a historical figure that demonstrated great leadership and left a profound legacy. Winter Wonderful Holiday Concert Held at Dan McCarty

Dan McCarty School held its annual Christmas concert, “Winter Wonderful!” featuring the Chorale Ensemble and orchestra students. The program highlighted the musical diversity and talents of DMS students. The cafetorium was jammed-pack with parents, students and school staff. The orchestra performed traditional songs such as, Jingle Bells, Up on the Housetop, Jolly Old St. Nicholas, and When the Saints Go Marching In. The Chorus also performed traditional songs: Jingle Bells, Angels We Have Heard on High, Deck the Halls, Joy to the World, Hot Chocolate and This Christmas to name a few.
