School Board Chair Dr. Donna Mills was at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center with SLPS educators and Executive Director of Exceptional Student Education and Student Services Bill Tomlinson taking a STOP THE BLEED Training.

The training was all about saving a life by knowing how to stop bleeding of open wounds after an injury. More people in the U.S. die from traumatic open wounds and loss of blood than any other cause of death. Lawnwood Regional Medical Center has a partnership with SLPS to train staff. Each participant received a free STOP THE BLEED kit.

A special thank you to the trainers for this session: Lawnwood’s Director of Trauma Services Doreen Gilligan, Mary Givans and Chinetta Neal. A special thanks to Chinetta Neal for helping Dr. Mills bring this invaluable training to St. Lucie Public schools.
